But I can't understand why Calzaghe is so up there and you place Hamed on a bridge of overrated fighters because Barerra beat him. What I DO hope is that Calzaghe gets his kudos so that when he is beaten one day you don't call him an overrated nobody. Like I said, I was impressed with his victory over Lacy, in terms of the 1000 punches, but as far as my confidence in Joe, I won 200 dollars betting my friend that Lacy wouldn't win a round :-P
But I can't wait to see Calzaghe against Bika so I can really form an opinion on him, haven't seen him fight much so this is a chance.

Was this around the time where Don tried to make Hopkins bankrupt and he was inactive for almost two years and came back and had to fight hakkar instead?
I hated Hamed his entire career, he was a prick the first itme he ever step in a pro ring, and him and warren handpicked every fighter for him EVEN barrera.
They thought barerra was doing to do what he did with morales, and stand and go toe to toe with hammed. Hammed avoided barrera and morales for a long time, and if he had any spine he wuda come back and fought barerra again, or morales. Look at barrera, morales pac; when the lose they either fight the same guy within the next few fights or another world class fighter, what did nas do? not a damn thing. He cudnt box for shit, he had very very has hard hittign hands yes, good sharpt reflexes, but box? if he wasnt such a tw@ maybe he cuda learnt - IMO the barrera who beat nas was a novice compared to the barrera of late - and he boxed nas with ease.

I don't think he's on the same level as Bernard and Jones in terms of master boxing. Jones wasn't even a master boxer, he got away with unorthodox things because he was so talented and fast. Bernard was more of a master boxer because of his basics mastering of them imo.
Whether it be through the use of the basics, natural ability, whatever - when you compete and dominate on an elite level in the way Joe/Bernard/Roy have, you're a master boxer. IMO atleast

he fought Carl Daniels like 5 months after the felix fight, then hakkar 11 months later. i don't even wanna get inot this don king trying to make him bankrupt thing u got going lol....

Nobody will care in 20 years if Hopkins has a win against Calzaghe on his record, Calzaghe is a great British fighter but he's not a worldwide phenomenon and won't be considered as one of the best ever in 20 years(unless he beat Hopkins and others, but this is about Hopkins winning, if he beats Calzage well it just shows Calzaghe wasn't on Hopkins level.)
The fact that Maskaev is not well known is completely and utterly irrelevent to a persons legacy.
Name me all the fighters Robinson beat to win the middleweight championship 5 times? And don't cheat and look at boxrec!
Name me the light heavyweight who Robinson failed to beat through heat exhaustion?
Name me the 25 defenses of his title that Joe Louis made?
See it is completely and utterly irrelevent who the opponents are in these cases, what counts is the record.
If Hopkins fought Maskaev and won a world heavy weight title, at 42 years old, after fighting as a middleweight his entire career it would be an acheivement unrivalled in the history of boxing.
Look at big George Foreman, most people can't even remember who he beat to win the title at 45 years old, but they all know he won the title again.
Winning a heavyweight title belt would do more for Hopkins legacy than beating Calzaghe, Kessler and Jones combined.
It's history mate, accomplish that and as I said before he ranks alongside Robinson and Armstrong as the greatest of all time.

I guess it comes down to who you ask. To me, Hopkins staying at middleweight fighting virtually nobody all this time has been anti-climactic.... And to the people who truly follow boxing thats what will stand out. Yes he finally fought Taylor, then Tarver but how long did it take him? Calzaghe/Jones (who make those other 2 names sound silly) have been here all along and have been avoided by him. They pose so much more of a threat to Hopkins because they're 'great' fighters. And thats the type of challenge Nard should of been looking for as an elite boxer.
Spinks going up to heavyweight and beating Larry Holmes was an achivement, because Holmes was such a great fighter. If he were to beat Maskaev who is a decent fighter at best, it would mean a whole hell of alot? Thats like saying Sven Ottke is one of the all time greats because he retired 34-0. And by that logic you're saying if Hopkins were to fight Wladimir Klitchsko and win, it wouldn't mean any more or less than if he were to do the same thing against Oleg? No sorry, but who you fight does mean something
You'd have to be on drugs to believe Calzaghe/Kessler/Jones wouldn't be the equivalent to Oleg Maskaev victory... total delusion

Calzaghe's has missed his chance at Hopkins, the biggest challenge for Hopkins to come back would be to take on the heavies & thats something I'd be interested in seeing. IMO Hopkins is to good for Calzaghe especially if Calzaghe were to move up to LH where it would have to be fought, as Hopkins has said thats where Jones & Tarver went wrong in coming back down, so I don't see Hopkins making the same mistake. Why would Hopkins come back for an easy win that won't mean much historically as fighting & beating heavyweights. Hopkins is all about his legacy from here

Thing is Hopkins is retired so to make a Calzaghe fight ain't that easy, its fine for Calzaghe to start calling out Hopkins now that hes retired. Why doesn't Calzaghe call out Taylor or Wright who are both active. If Hopkins comes back he wants a challenge & IMO taking on the heavies is a bigger challenge than a super-middleweight.

joe c puts b-hop (a true legend) into certain retirement with a lopsided loss if this fight were to ever come off at this stage in bernards career.
too much ability, too much activity on joes part to lose this one.......imho

Because B-hop is not in the actual screen fighting doesn't mean hes not active, as you very well may know B-Hop is a gym rat, hes there day & night sun, rain or shine.
The only thing that just popped in my head is that whole GBP 'East' thing that hes got going...... :( that might have kept him awat from the gym a bit. But even then B-hops style of fighting is just always in tact hes ready to adapt to ANYBODYS style, Joe would be no different from the rest.
