Re: This Is Just Plain Ridiculous and Perplexing to Me..The Scrutiny Of Floyd
Further to someone's previous comments about Brits not appreciating Mayweather ..... I am a Brit, and I thought he pitched a perfect shutout over a very big, very strong natural welterweight.
I have not seen that much of PBF in the past, and notwithstanding that I think he's an arrogant motherfucker, that is the first fighter I have seen at that weight who I felt would belong in the ring with Ray Leonard.
I saw a brilliant display of defensive skill (not just having good reflexes, like Nas, but also having the technical skills, savvy and bravery to avod punched while staying in range). Speed was awesome, co-ordination etc etc was top notch. Power was not much, but Baldomir has a good chin.
I agree that he has only had 30-something fights and none against a nemesis, or classic rival - but that's not his fault.
It is a fault of modern fighters to be seen to chase their 'legacy', and their place in history. That's all bullshit and it is never until many years after a fighters retirement that he can be fairly judged.
However, and I say this as a Hatton fan, Floyd would outbox him and rip him to shreds.

But anyway i think people need to stop hating on Floyd, He's simply the greatest thing in the game right now and shouldn't be blamed just because he can beat a fighter without getting hit while making his opponent look silly!!, It's up to the rest to try and figure out how to stop him, As long as Floyd is winning belts why the hell should he change?, The 5th round alone was simply a breath taking display of boxing excellence, The man is brash yes but he's backing up the talk, I pray the brotha doesn't step out of the game after his next fight as we'd be missing out on the prime years of one of the most gifted individuals to ever put on the gloves, The man is brilliant!!, It's as simple as that and the sooner people kill the jealousy and give the man his dues the better!!, Because the haters favorite fighters ain't seeing Floyd, He ain't pound for pound for nothing man,

I think there is alot of restlessness between the 2 continents since no fight will be made soon and if it true Hatton rejected a fight with Floyd since he bid himself out of the fight...Well that is ridiculousness $13 mil is alot of steam..There were reports Hattons camp declined on another Occasion siting Ricky wasnt ready for Floyd yet...
Anyway...I maintain that Floyd is head and shoulders above the rest lets face it Floyd has NO NEMESIS..No Hearns, No LAmotta, No Frazier etc.. thats the predicament...
I find the majority clinging to the hope that everyone of his challengers will give him trouble leading up to the fight peeps were venerating Baldi sighting his advantages and anointing him as The Mayweather slayer and after they sight how he is gonna grind Floyd down and impose his will and absorb Floyds shots etc...Then when Floyd spanks him we have this tremendous backlash of discreditting him....
Just like How Gatti was gonna KO him cause Floyd never tasted the power and the relentlessness and heart of someone like Gatti...Floyd spanks him bad and all of a sudden Gatti is Shot..
Judah- Zab is gonna match handspeed and beat Floyd to the punch and at his own game...Judah wins 1st few rounds Floyd adapts and punishes him on the way to a TKO until that piece of shite Zab cheap shots him... Then its well Zab is a waste of talent and an underachiever Blah, Blah
Baldi-is a 180lb behemoth that hasnt lost 9 yrs 18-0 with out being stopped in 13yrs is relentless and will beat Floyds body and grind him down from his severe determination Floyd wont handle the pressure and this will be the hardest fight of his career.....Floyd outclasses him gives him a onesided thrashing like no one has before makes him look foolish swinging wildly all the while Floyd is dominating him fighting 5-6 rounds with a damaged right hand...All of a sudden Baldi had 9 losses is a lucky Journeyman...
Like I said a few days ago you wont know what you had in Floyd till he is gone and he will not get any love until a few years after he retires... Sad but True
All the credit goes to Floyd for this fight. I was rooting for Baldy, because I tend to like underdogs and cinderella stories. I thought Floyd would have more trouble, but he nearly pitched a shutout. He is the PFP greatest right now, no doubt, and we are lucky that we have someone as good has him around in this era.
That being said, if he actually retires after only one more fight, he is a chump. He will get no love from me. He wants to be considered the best of all time. If he wants to be on par with Robinson, he needs to fight everyone, like Robinson, Leonard, Lewis, Duran, Ali, and all other TRUE champions. They fought first, then worried about legacies later. Those guys fought every serious opponent out there. You can't question the quality of oposition, even though those other fighters lost a few. THey came back and avenged those losses. Other than the Castillo fights, Floyd has taken the safe road.
Let let him beat Tony, Ricky, and Shane, and will bow to his greatness. If beats an old ODLH and retires, I'll feel cheated and I'll never consider him a top 5 all-timer.

Re: This Is Just Plain Ridiculous and Perplexing to Me..The Scrutiny Of Floyd
The difference between Winky's fight with Tito and Floyd and Balos is Winky showed how to use great defence, straight punches, best jab in boxing and was facing P4P hardest hitter period and although it got slightly boring towards the end,to see Tito tamed so easily was amazing and shocking. In comparison,Baldo is not a hard hitter,Floyd was going on and on and on and on and on about how he give him a beat down etc etc I didn't see this. I didn't see a jab,I didn't see great combos etc. I saw pot shots and running. That's the difference. It was a silly example Bilbo, how much of a bigger threat is Tito than Baldo?! ::** Heck Corrales is much more dangerous than Baldo and look what Floyd did to him. I was expecting more, that was not worth $39.95 and what capped it off is the "crying" at the presser and giving peeps watches?! WTF is that about? And look how agitated Floyd got when Merchant was doing his job and asking questions.
JT,you know I love Floyd's fighting style but hate his personality but I mean that was not a boxing masterclass. He had 2-3 rounds where I saw the Floyd I wanted to see, like I said, when he was landing punches and ducking Baldo's that was awesome but other than that.......
VD,stop being such a nut hugger and read properly,I stated clearly why it was not hating,I never HATE on Floyd and that word is brandished around far too much, just for having a differnce of opinion.

THe big difference though, is size.. Corrales is NOT more dangerous than Baldo.. No way in hell. p4p, well of course.. But considering that FLoyd started his career at 130 and unlike some fighters like DLH, that was actually close to his natural weight.. He didn't walk around at 155-160 and drain himself to 130... He has moved up slowly for that reason. DLH, although he started out at 130, is at the least a natural welterweight. He still had tons of power and good size at 147... Floyd has neither.. Same thing with the Winky Tito fight, although the size difference wasn't huge Wright was a little bit bigger than Tito naturally. If Mayweather was naturally even close to as big as Baldomir I think you would have seen the masterclass you were hoping for.
Re: This Is Just Plain Ridiculous and Perplexing to Me..The Scrutiny Of Floyd
I think Corrales would and will be more dangerous at 147 than Baldo. Baldo is the weakest out of the elite at 147,I wanted a masterclass and didn't get it. Fair enough,I see what you are saying about Floyd's weight but it still does not explain why he couldn't jab etc etc more. I'm not asking him to go to war but I am saying do more than tap and run! And the presser after the fight, handing out feee watches to the press etc etc that was BS. It's a ploy, for sympathy whatever. I just don't buy it and I'd like to see how many buys that did. I know there were like 9,000 peeps there, nowhere near full. You know what annoyed me the most,I brought all the talk pre fight that he was going to beat Baldo's ass, that it was going to be a savage beating and you know how excited I was when I saw him come to the ring like a gladiator? I though boy, this is Lil floyd;s time to shine, all the comparing with SRR etc etc and he came out with that?>!> I'm sorry,I just don't buy it. That's not hating, that's my opinion and I have justified it.
This is what happens when you flap your gums too much, raise too much hype about oneself and then do not deliver in the manner which was promised and expected.
Here;s the source for the attendance figures There were over 9,000 people in attendance (far from a sell out), but according to sources, many tickets were sold at a discounted price and offered to hotel employees. The only palpable buzz that could be felt throughout the weekend at the Mandalay Bay was from the fans that were in town for Professional Bull Riders event that was taking place at the Thomas and Mack Center. We'll never really find out just how many comps and slashed ducats were distributed, but it spoke volumes that residents of Las Vegas / Clark County could not buy the pay-per-view broadcast (on cable) because the local blackout was not lifted.

Fair enough, but it's hardly the first time a fighter has said he will knock somebody out etc and then fought a different fight. That's almost a part of boxing. Just think about it this way, how many tickets/PPVs would have been sold if Floyd had said, yeah Im just going to outbox this guy. It will be a really low risk fight for me.. Would that have sold any tickets?.. I never bought Floyds prefight crap for this fight anyways to be honest, I would have been completely shocked if he had stopped Baldo.. It just wasn't the right game plan, why give a guy his only chance to land something. I think the fact that people were leaving has to do just as much with Baldomir as it does Floyd.. THat's why I say you can't really compare it to Winky vs Tito.. People expected TRinidad to win, and they knew he had power throughout an entire fight.. With this fight, you pretty much knew Baldomir had no chance of turning the fight around or hurting Floyd after the 3rd or 4th round, as well as that Mayweather had very little chance of stopping him after the 6th. I must say though until that point I did half expect Floyd to stop him and I was geting excited. Oh well though.. imo, Baldomir just isn't a very entertaining fighter, basically. His best attribute is that anvil on his head, and the fact that he was naturally at least 20 lbs bigger.. I can't say much about this fight surprised me, but I wasn't dissapointed like many seem to be.
Re: This Is Just Plain Ridiculous and Perplexing to Me..The Scrutiny Of Floyd
Have a cool click on me bro for not labelling me a "hater" and for making valid points as per always. I think you were not as dissappointed because you were not suckered into the pre fight talk like I was and because you seemed to have low expectations in the first place. That's what I mean though, you named Baldo's qualities, now think of all of PBF's and then think of the performance,it does not equate! I know it's not the first time and he was selling the fight but come on,the amount he was running his mouth etc etc,I think I am entitled to have expected more. Also, when you are considered P4P number 1,you have a certain responsibility, you are like the showcase of boxing. Like I said,I wouldn't expect him to go to war but give the crowd a flashy combo etc. And as I mentioned, the presser, the interview with Merchant, all that bullshit just pissed me off more!
Re: This Is Just Plain Ridiculous and Perplexing to Me..The Scrutiny Of Floyd
CC to JT - agree completely with everything you've said. I can't believe the about-face people are pulling on this forum discrediting this opponent after hyping him as extremely dangerous, huge, and the biggest challenge in Floyd's recent career. I wasn't one of those that thought this would be a tough match, but I can still appreciate it when a guy comes in and (on my card) wins all 12 rounds in a lineal championship fight.
The biggest joke is the idea (floated by at least 10 different people on various threads here) that this perfect shutout somehow is evidence that Ricky Hatton can beat Floyd. This is especially ironic considering these same posters' crying when people jumped on Hatton's gift victory over Collazo, where he won 6 rounds at best (plus a kd; he won 5 rds on my card), saying that Hatton's not a natural WW and that the fight meant nothing. Floyd is naturally smaller than Hatton, fought a much bigger guy than Collazo in Baldomir, and won every single round, as opposed to less than half. And the idea is just ridiculous that after beating PROVEN fighters like Castillo (who will soon KO Hatton) and Corralles, it's a fight against the largely UNPROVEN Hatton (riding on one victory against an old, injured (shoulder surgery immediately after the fight), inactive Kostya Tszyu) that would cement Floyd's legacy.
JT, you nailed it on there being no opponent that could truly shut the haters up. Ok, maybe if Little Floyd dropped back down to 130 pounds, and then got in the ring with Klitchko and knocked him out in the first round . . . half the haters would shut up (Gamo, I'm not talking about you--but there are plenty of people talking straight nonsense on the RBR thread).

lol,I know you're not talking about me bro,as I didn't refer to Hatton beating PBF because I don't think he would! And I havent brought up any other names because that is not the issue for me here and believe you me,I did not think Baldo would give PBF any problems at all! I do want to know one thing though from any hardcore PBF fans, what do you make of his shenanigans at the presser for fight because I have not heard any of you mention it! Come now,he was being a sourpuss over the criticisms/booing,it was nonsense was it not?
