Re: which style of fighting is most practicle in a real fight.
after running a bar for a while I found that size was important but not nearly as having a good head on their shoulders. With today's legal environment you really have to be careful with your guys beating up on customers. I like having my guys with enough size to make you think twice if you wanted to tangle but my guys were expressly instructed that the priority was removing the problem not beating it. My bouncers did a lot of labor in the place and were not just muscle. Consequently I was less likely to hire a guy with a high level of training that seemed to want to bounce for the confrontation. Quite often my guys found it was easier to explain that you can leave or they can throw you out and then you can go to jail.

good point van with my training being mostly striking i would have to knock someone out i would end up making a bigger seen than just grabbing someone and muscling them out ^-^
Re: which style of fighting is most practicle in a real fight.
I still think people aren't quite getting what I'm saying. It's not necessarily what you say or do, but the aura you have about yourself. I NEVER go around talking shit or acting tough. But I have never actually HAD to fight to protect myself or end a dispute (I HAVE done it, but that was back when I was a bit younger and a LOT dumber). I've had plenty of VERY tense situations where I was outnumbered and EASILY would have had my ass beaten, but didn't, because I let them know I wasn't going to be pushed around without ever needing to come right out and say it. I stood my ground, and talked straight and without fear.
Of course....there's always the old fallback (and I learned this one from my dad, who's been a cop his whole life, and has used this line several times to save his ass):
"You may beat the shit out of me, but rest assured I am going to make it VERY not worth your while."
(for the record, his exact version was, "You may beat the shit out of me, but I'm going to hold you here until the entire Police force arrives to beat you within an inch of your life and haul your ass away to jail for life. Now tell me....is it REALLY worth all that just to prove you're a tough guy?")

I agree Heavy. The reality is most people don't really want to fight. And when faced with someone who quite obviously is ready and happy to fight and possibly win quite often people will find an excuse to not actually scrap

Re: which style of fighting is most practicle in a real fight.
I've been training in martial arts since I was 3(started with tae kwon do)
But nothing's more effective then a good ole kick ot the groin or a shot to the center of the throat, that ends a bout quick as anything :)
I know how to do other stuff but why waste my time using it when I can end it in a few moves or at least immobilize them enough to run away?
