Man anytime you get in the ring with another fighter you are taking a risk.
Castillo, Corrales, Baldomir, Judah, Chavez, N'dou, Gatti... you're right no risk there! Just like fighting any scrub off the street!
Not his fault he's never been "even" with another fighter...you want him to train to become less talented so he starts getting in close fights or what?
About the statement on Hatton, it's not true. But British fans always get very hyped and excited when they have a fighter that shows potential and buy those tickets and become die-hard fans and loyal to their fighter. In the states its not like that...we like to criticize our top guys instead.

Mayweather-Corrales was a pick'em fight. The odds were dead even. It's only in retrospect that people feel as if the opponents were unworthy. So your post is not correct.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't quite a number of people feel as though Floyd lost his first fight with Castillo? If I remember correctly, he immediately granted him a rematch, I would think fighting a guy who many feel you didn't even beat the first time is a risk, unless of course your a biased hater as you appear to be. Also, sorry to have to tell you this, but if Floyd fought Hatton, Margarito, Cotto, or Mosley, he again would not be 'EVEN' or an 'UNDERDOG'. He'd go into all those fights as the odds on favorite. Like an earlier poster alluded to, I guess he's just suppose to stop training as hard huh.

Floyd fought Corrales and Castillo in 2001 and 2002....."what have you done for me lately"
In those fights Floyd came really close to doing what people want him to do which is take a chance and be challenged....I mean what kind of fighter doesn't WANT to challange himself?

Then explain who Floyd should have fought the last few years. Who are these challenging fighters that Floyd has been avoiding?

Floyd has Flown up in weight wih no consideration for fighting the best....he has fought good fighters. But Baldomir? Gatti? Were they ever really threats?

corrales was dangerous fight he was underfeated and bookies had it 50-50 and mayweather schooled him plus castillo was dangerous fight and believe me mayweather was very challenged when he fought castillo

Then who are the "threats" that he has avoided??
Everyone always bashes Floyd's opposition without providing names of who he should have fought.

Dont even bother responding... This is a guy who would tell you Wlad Klitschko has taken more risks and has a better resume than Floyd.. He's just a few bricks short, not worth the effort.
Re: Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Trashes Ricky Hatton
Hey Wladimir has taken risks....fighting the hardest hitting UNDEFEATED heavyweight out there and everyone said Wlad has a bad chin.
THAT IS A RISK AND it was one of the biggest fights that could be made at the time.
I'm not saying Wlad is a better fighter than Floyd but he gives the fans the fights they want to see....and he'd have a unification fight if Don King wasn't around.
Floyd has NEVER....ever ever ever ever in any weight class he's been in....... unified the titles. This means yes he has held titles but never ALL the titles which in turn means there are other legitimate champions he has not fought in .......EVERY WEIGHT CLASS HE'S EVER FOUGHT IN
What was that you were saying about "who else should Floyd have fought"???

Lyle... Your so thick sometimes it's ridiculous.. Sam Peter was a risk, sure... But so was Corrales, Castillo, Judah, Baldomir, and DLH, in fact all are much much better fighters, and better then anyone Wlad has ever fought. Baldomir was the undisputed champion at 147, so Floyd didn't have any other champs to fight unless you want to pencil in an easy victory over Margarito that only his groupies wanted to see. You talk about unification all you like fact is Wlad has hardly managed to hold on to one title until now, and he's fighting Ray Austin. Is that a risk? I understand you don't really follow any boxer that isn't a huge puncher that can give you a hard on with their awesome manly power... But your really pulling at straws so often with your BS.
Re: Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Trashes Ricky Hatton
De la Hoya I agree with but Judah??? Baldomir???
Baldomir was big and could take a punch....that's about it
Judah is too full of himself to be a good boxer anymore
Ray Austin is a mandatory....and Wlad doesn't have the advantage of shifting weight classes....and why do you make everything about Wlad???
and as for Corrales and Castillo they fought Floyd 5 or 6 years ago.
Cotto
Hatton
Mosley
Margarito
Freitas
Casamayor
Spadafora
Grigorian
Tszyu
Witter
Harris
Spinks
God the list can go on for ever....the thing is GREAT FIGHTERS are held to a higher standard....that's all I'm saying p4p....Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Duran, Leonard, hell De la Hoya and Mosley have been hawked over their whole careers too why are FLOYD fans the only ones who get pissed off when you question his greatness???

Cotto- Bob Arums next big star, you really think that will happen?? Arum hates Floyd since he left.
Hatton- Ricky doesn't and never will wan't the fight. Accept it.
Mosley- Still possible really, I doubt either would shy from the fight
Margarito- fought Baldomir then DLH instead, yeah what a coward.
Freitas- Yeah I guess it would have been a good fight to take before he lost, but he still would have killed him.
Casamayor- That's one. Could have been made, would have been a good fight but you can't get them all.
Spadafora- Why. He had enough trouble with Manfredy, and Dorin.. Who were clearly not on the same level as Floyd.
Grigorian- He only fought in Germany aside from getting whipped by Freitas in the states.
Tszyu- Yeah, and he wanted to fight Tszyu after Gatti, assuming he beat Hatton..
Witter- hahahah.
Harris- Yes, I believe he was the co feature on the Gatti Mayweather card, they were hyping him up to fight the winner... Who did he fight again... Oh yeah, Maussa? How'd that one go?? I wonder why Floyd didn't chase him after that.
Spinks- I thought they were close to agreeing on this one a while before Floyd got the DLH fight?? Oh well, might happen if not I doubt anyone will care.

You see the list really can't go on very long at all Lyle.. It's a different game today than it was in the days of Robinson.. Guys are getting paid these days, you can't have prizefighters going at it every other week with top contenders. I realize that those fighters you named are all goats who have unquestionably achieved much more than Floyd, but they have achieved more than basically any modern fighters.. Just due to the times, and other greats fighting in their divisions. Just see what route Floyd takes, I really doubt he'll retire after beating Oscar. If he lost it could even make him greater, if he rebounded with some big fights at welter and took on someone like the winner of Cotto Margarito or Hatton that lots of people would be interested in... He can only take one fight at a time and can only be held standard to his peers and the nature of the sport today. THere's noone going around forgin a legacy like Robinson or Duran at the moment.. And to compare DLH or Mosley to those guys in itself is proposterous. Floyd is very close to equalling their legacys(which aren't close to Robinsons, Peps, or Durans, due to everything I just said).
Re: Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Trashes Ricky Hatton
...he never wanted, nor TRIED to fight any of those people.
Hey promoters as filthy as they are.....are an obstical one has to over come and honestly never ever ever being a unified champ takes away from Floyd's greatness and EVERYONE should agree to that.
If Floyd is so fucking good why doesn't he just beat anyone and everyone???????
answer: he's scared
