The Giant certainly isn't a fringe topic, and will soon dominate boxing news and media coverage world wide. Deserving or not the heavies get the glory and he's as heavy as they come!

landmine950 this will be my last post on this matter cause 1 or 2 more posts like this and we are better off mud wrestling eachother in 'daisy dukes' :-X
At no point did I ever say you did not contribute to this forum I wouldn't say that to someone here even if you have 1 post or 20,000 posts once you've typed something on the forum you're a contributor.....
What I did say in other words about you making repetitive threads/controversial, is that you're like the media you go for controversy and try to rattle things up.... Which is fine but these are subjects that are open fire for anyone here to read. In none of the posts that I put here did I insult you. My comment about a part of me dying slowly when I read your posts is true, because it's my belief that Marciano is one of the greatest Heavy's ever and to compare Valuev whos not even on par with either Lennox, Vitali, Wladdy, Holyfield to Marciano just like I said kills me..... :(
I don't need to check your posts, I know what your typing.... It's either Anti-(Insert Heavyweight Name Here) OR Valuev Is The Best, Greatest, Unbeatble etc. etc. etc.
And if you think I'm personally attacking you then all you have to do is ask around I'm usually the peace keeper theres no need for me to attack you or anyone, read all the other posts from other people and see if I'm the only one who's not with you on this one?
Heres cc#118 to end this on a good note.... :)
Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??
There is a big gap between statistics such as % of wins of opponents and the quality of them. You can have a perfect record, but the quality of your opponents will have a great influence to determine the real quality of a boxer. With this said, I would not be surprised that Valuev's "Record" become better than Marciano. But, it will be too difficult to say that Valuev is a better quality boxer than Marciano. Just look at some of the names that Marciano has beaten and think if Valuev has any names as these in his record; Joe Lous, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore...
Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??
Very good post PuertoRicanPunch, have a cool click.
Valuev is a big hairy fraud of a fighter!
Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??
Valuev is the bonus boss fight in a 90 hour RPG game. Not part of the game just an obstacle thrown in to test your skills. At least that's how I choose to look upon him.
Valuev isn't trying to present himself as a "great" anything. Don King is, but Valuev isn't. I have no problem with Valuev. He obviously has enough skill to perform in the ring. If Valuev never loses a fight it's not his fault.
Again, I am not touting his skills.
Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??
Ok interesting post and I can apreciate those stats but you have to realise that when Marciano was fighting he fought against the best of his era (and there wasnt a load of worthless alphabet titles floating around) and although the fighters of today would surely destroy the fighters of back then without a doubt until Valuev is fighting against the best boxers around you really cant compare them. To be honest Valuevs unbeaten record is more of an achievement on behalf of his management than his boxing. Although saying that I will admit that I think he would prove very difficult to beat for anyone around today and he could probably give either klitscho a good run for their money. The guy weighs 23 stone for gods sake! No matter how limited his boxing skills are if he hits you - its gonna do some damage but he just hasnt fought too many worthwhile opponents yet. At least when Marciano was fighting people knew he was the best, Valuev has a chance of being the best (of this generation at least) but he just doesnt seem to want to take that chance, shame really because with the state of the division right now he could be making a much bigger impact.

Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??
evry1 always tries 2 discredit marciano
first of all 2 me ALI WAS THE GREATEST--he dominated the golden era of boxing. ali was in the greatest era, but u cant take greats who were not part of ali's era and discredit them for it.
A true champion will fight whoevers available and not duck any1-which rocky did. rocky dominated his era(granting it was not the best aka golden era)
joe louis dominated his era-his era was not the best as well.
marciano fought every1 available and never lost...its not his fault he didnt fight in the golden age
Re: Valuev's record BETTER? than Marciano's??

:coolclick: for landmine
Taking the time to compare the records statistically is pretty damn interesting if flawed.
