Here is a short list of reasons why boxing isn't as good as it could be
Don King and other promoters (UFC and other MMA thingies don't have to deal with that bullshit)
EVERYTHING interesting and even things that aren't are on PPV
HBO, Showtime are great but you have to pay extra to have those channels too
ESPN shows CRAP boxing....why can't you get good hard fights without having bums do it?
There are too many titles
and finally,
Everyone is trying to fix what isn't broke about boxing by adding to it....boxing is just fighting let it be and don't add, just subtract!
8) It starts with the boxing commission doing nothing. The head of the judges not doing his job! Heck everything! ! ! 8)
all of the above are factors althogh I cant really complain about match making. there have been lots of great matchups lately!
There really isn't a Great theatricall Heavywieght. Ask any average person if they can name 2 of the heavy wieght champs currerntlly. Most cant even get one. I work in construction and half of the shagouls on the jobsite never even heard of Calazaghe or Veaulev. But I can gaurentee they heard of Lennox Lewis or Sugar ray Leonard. Thats what is wrong with the sport we need more flashy champs, less belts and more title shots. Haglar would have never ducked Pavlik or Miranda like this. We need more action.
I voted too many titles because it would be easier for the casual fan to get into it if there was one difinitive champ for each class. Also it is too expensive because not many people want to pay $50 for a PPV fight that could end up not interesting them. Also the Heavyweights blow and they need to improve if boxing is to get fans back because they are the main attraction to casual fans.
I picked other because it's a combination of things. Briefly, too many alphabet soup organizations, too many weight classes (both of which equal too many belts), not enough nearly enough fights on broadcast television, and no central governing authority.
shows like The Contender are good but maybe if they had better fighters in there it would be even better......I mean Pete Manfredo ain't the best boxing has to offer
