I am sure Floyd sees the style matchup with Margarito as tougher than Baldomir. Margarito is taller and has alot of range. I do not think that is ducking someone as much as it is more risky at the moment for less pay. A fighter is going to fight the fights he can win more for sure with the most money. That is why Mayweather wanted Oscar. If Floyd beats Margarito people will just say Margarito was unproven, which pretty much he is not really a proven commodity yet. So for Floyd to fight a 5-11 guy just because Margarito says he is ducking him does not really benefit Floyd. it benefits Margarito. Why would Floyd do favors for Margarito? Margarito beating Williams and then Mosley would get Mayweather interested.

Yeah but if you read what people have said, Baldo had the green belt. WBC is much more respected than WBO.
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
I don't think Floyd was thinking about respectability of the belts. He was taking the "safe" route plain and simple. This ducking Margarito thing didn't start with Floyd. Mosely and Delahoya ran from him too. If you wanna take the safe route that's fine. But don't tell me that you don't duck anyone when you do.

I'm still not buying into the fact that anyone is ducking Margo. How can you say Shane ducked him when in the video you posted he said he'd fight him????
The reason I've argued this so much is not because of Floyd bashing, but because I really can't understand how you're telling me that the world's top fighters are shit scared of a guy who hasn't proven himself. Not once has he impressed me yet. If he does against Williams, they I give him his dues, but I feel I could name a bunch of guys who would happily hand his ass to him.
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
Shane Mosley wanted to fight Cotto for the title (as long as Cotto beat Quitana), Arum told him that Cotto had an obligation to fight Urkal but he could fight Margarito for the same amount of money. What do you think Shane said?

I don't know, but I'm guessing he told you personally since you seem to have the inside scoop.
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
Is Sugar Ray Leonards, Legacy tainted since he didnt fight Aaron Pryor... NO!!!! Shit happens in the business, you cant fight them all...
Floyd fought the legit 147lbr instead of a title holder for $1 more...... I for onewould take the extra $1, the Linear Welterweight Championship, and roughly 25Mil forbeating Oscar ;) Oh and guess what I would do with the extra $1... I would buy Margarito a box of tissue for alll the crying and whining he does.... Hey Arum, instead of living on Mayweather's porch.. Keep your boy active
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
LOOL,can't believe this thread is still going!!! :D :D
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
At least no one can ask who Margarito is
"Margarito vs Williams is a pick em fight for me.. If Williams has a chin and a good heart/mentality, I think he'll beat Tony because he has better physical tools. But if Margarito wins, he will imo almost definetly lose to the winner of Judah Cotto. Either one would beat him, he just isn't a talented fighter. Im surprised that you've been a hardcore boxing fan for so long, have watched so many great fighters at work, and you still can't see how ordinary Margarito is." P4PKING
Wow,I'm quite flattered that you consider me a hardcore fan!! :D :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) 8) :D :D :D Margarito is NOT extraordinary in any area,I totally agree with that BUT he IS good in every area. He's massive for a WW,he trows sooo many bombs, can cut of the ring well etc. He has a great chin and his stamina is P4P. If you add those factors together,a decent fighter becomes a stylistic nightmare! And IF he beats Williams,I expect CC's from you and everyone else who doubted Tony!!!!
And again,he's a stylistic nightmare for Cotto or Judah! Again,he's not the best but he would give fighters problems. The only guy that could beat him easily is someone with banging punch KO power and the only person at 147 who has that,he already destroyed, thats' Cintron. A Tito like fighter would beat on Margarito bad because he would have to take too many to land, but other than that, his size, strenght and toughness is enough for anyone.
I could be TOTALLY wrong but I guess we will find out in June :D
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
Margarito is a good fighter but the notion that Floyd ducked him pretty much died with the Baldomir fight. Had Floyd fought Cintron like rumored then he would have a case, but that's not what happened.
Margarito is a good fighter, but I don't think he makes it past Williams in this welterweight tournament. His victory over Clottey is being discredited though and that's wrong.
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
Is it just me or do we get this EXACT thread with the EXACT title and the EXACT video clip every couple months on this site?
Floyd isn't ducking anybody, he wants the fights that pay him the most money. As soon as a fight with Margarito means more commercial sense than anything else out there he will take the fight no doubt about it whatsoever.
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
If Margarito ends up coming out of this ww tournament, I see a Jones Jr/Tarver situation happening. But I'm not real sure if Marg can get past Williams. It will be interesting.

Yea totally ::** I can see it now, a weight drained 37 year old Floyd Mayweather moves down from 168 fresh after his masterclass win over Calzaghe, to fight Margarito at 147 and have a closefight with a no talent azz clown, just to get KO'D by a lucky punch in a rematch.. Followed up bt a snoozefest of a 3rd fight..... Now thats a spot on prediction ::**
Re: To those who think Floyd isn't ducking Margarito?
I was referring to the way that Tarver kept showing up at all of Roy Jones's press conferences and talking smack.
