Totally disagree, Taylor didn't control a damn thing. Look at his punch stats. I can't remember him throwing anything effective. Like I've said in other posts. How the hell does Taylor expect to win without throwing.Quote:

i'm downloading the fight right now. i will let you know what i think after i've seen it ;)
I thought Taylor won 116-112. It was a horrible, horrible fight. And I don't know how anyone can compare Spinks' performance to Floyd's against Oscar. Floyd landed close to 50% of his punches. Spinks landed about 15%. Taylor obviously looked terrible too. He knew what to expect, and yet he still came in there with absolutely no ability to cut off the ring. I thought Oscar looked bad against Floyd, but at least he knew how to get Floyd into a corner (before missing with a flurry). In the end, they seemed to land about the same number of shots, but Taylor was the only one that landed anything at all meaningful (though he didn't do it much). Manny was giving perfect advice, and Taylor simply was not following it.
I also want to say that, while I congratulate Pavlik, and far more enjoyed that fight than the "main event," I thought Pavlik and Miranda both looked incredibly sloppy, and I think Taylor beats Pavlik easily. But I'd rather see Taylor-Calzaghe, which Calzaghe wins.
I thought Spinks won the fight.
And those punchstats were bogus but everyone says Spinks wasn't active enough to win. Well if you look at the punchstats the only thing I agree with is that Spinks threw a lot more punches then Taylor did and I think he landed a lot more too. If anyone was active the entire fight it was Spinks. He was the one who was throwing on the inside while Taylor was stalking and stalking and looking for one shot.
Spinks fought his style and took Taylor's title with his own style.
That whole "take" the title from a champion is a misconception. Spinks took the title from Taylor fighting "his" style and "his" gameplan, not Taylors.

Watching that fight with your own eyes and not relying on punchstats I saw Spinks outlanding Taylor.Quote:

And the most underappreciated thing was how Spinks countered Jermains left hand by sneaking his shots under it and jabbing him in the face like this

I thought Spinks clearly won that fight honestly.
This fight was garbage. I gave the edge to Taylor. One guy wanted to play tag, and the other didn't want to do anything. Although Spinks outworked Taylor, JT landed the more meaningful blows. I wouldn't have been dissappointed with a draw, or a loss for both.
By meaningful do you mean the "one shot that wins a round even though you lost the first 2:30 of it" shots that you shouldn't get unless you are the champ ???Quote:

Like I said, a draw wouldn't have been out of the question, at all. Hell, if Spinks won, it wouldn't have suprised me. Neither guy WANTED the fight, IMO.Quote:

He seems like a nice enough guy, and I understood why he took this fight, but he's going to get sparked by either Joe C or Kelly P.

You are spot on with your assessment Majesty .Quote:
