Boom Boom was 1 punch away from being stopped against Medina that doesn't speak volumes of him IMO....
To think I had predicted a Medina win on that fight. That win would habe probably won me the Prediction League contest.... ;D

yea medina was no walk over, but clearly boom boom was the better boxer. Medina is world class, now de leon is next. should a 20 year old get treated like this? two straight world class fighter? And its not like they are boom booms age? they are older and undefeated too.

Although I agree the Gerry boxed very very well,I found it difficult to give him a round whereby he landed 2 or 3 admittedly wonderful shots and Ponce on the other hand was working solely on the body,some landing,some not but more landing than Penelosa.
If Gerry had been more active,it would have been a boxing masterclass and I have actually attempted to find some more Penelosa fights after that performance,I was that impressed but I just don't think he did enough to warrant the W.

The runner daniel "coward" ponce de leon was undeservingly awarded a victory for throwing so many punches in the air..there was never an instant that penalosa was clearly hit in the face in any round...most of his punches were blocked by the arms and gloves of penalosa..in contrast penalosa snapped the head of de leon on several occasions
I asked myself at the end of the fight, "this runner (ponce) won because of what? Ineffective output?" The veteran Penalosa schooled him. 90% of PDL's shots were caught by his gloves, and Penalosa would answer back with telling blows, smacking the younger and larger man around! If they were similar in size, and Penalosa had more power he would have put the kid to sleep.

right on the money EG. penalosa just wasn't aggressive enough especially in the latter rounds. that has always been a weakness in his game in previous fights. he just gotta have to learn to take more chances.
