What's wrong with having some national pride - some miserable fukkas about
I just think there are better ways to express national pride. Our national anthem is about saving the F****** queen. It has nothing to do with sport, so seriously, whats the point?
It's not so much the words it's the bringing together of everybody that means somethin

Doesn't singing the Ricky Hatton songs bring everyone together in a fight?
Re: Hatton fans booing national anthems?
If you think they shouldn't play anthems at sporting events, that's a different argument.
The fact remains that it's just stupid to boo an anthem.
When Morales and Pacquiao fought, there were huge Mexican and Filipino fanbases there, and both showed a lot of pride and cheered loudly during their own anthems. But you didn't hear anybody booing the other side's anthem. Because they were acting the way you're supposed to act, they weren't acting like jackasses.

Fair point. I think the booing is done more in jest at the fighter and his supporters, rather than the country. In my eyes, when they sung the Mexican national anthem, they were doing it in support of their fighter, and the booing is aimed in support of their own fighter, not against the country itself.

Songs about hatton are fine.. But booing a national anthem is bang out of order

Hence why they shouldn't bother with them. People just get pissed off, and it causes more trouble than it's worth. You won't stop some dickhead from booing. It's nothing compared with football here. Sometimes, during minute silences for the death of people, opposing fans heckle and boo. That is disrespectful.

Yea thats bad..
I wouldnt say scrap anthems though..
I mean its too hard to explain.. But just think about it..
Say you got Miguel Cotto vs Antonio margarito..
A full house of mexicans and puerto ricans.. And you know these latino cats get passionate..
Its just nice and a real atmousphere setter to have you national anthem sung!
Just like pac vs Morales.. That was a really cool couple anthems before the fight..Sets a mood

If you like it then fair enough. Maybe because I hate our national anthem and have no real pride singing it makes me want rid. I mean, have you heard it? I'd boo ours, it's terrible.

I call it mindless because I imagine very few people examine what they are doing or why. You get taught to do as you are told from a very early age and there is a forced community spirit about it which I think is false. All that nonsence, flag pledge, stand up for our national anthem? Would the Queen stand up for me? Bollocks.
