if paul williams makes it out of the fight with margarito then he should be mentioned..until then he's just a young guy that beat up a bunch of Atlanta area bums plus old and torn up mitchell
Old and Torn Sharmba who was Floyd's first opponent out of the 3 welters he fought... But I also believe that Paul is too vulnerable to the in-fighting Tony produces and should be caught inside by a Tornado he May(not)weather...
floyd was already a proven fighter and sharmba was just another fighter to floyd...to williams sharmba is his only weight to him being a serious contender...if he loses to tony we won't hear of him again..but then that depends on how he loses...Actually its weird because this is tony's most public fight...if either loses in a bad fashion it will be hard to sell either one of them....if they fight a war like barrera-morrales then they're elevated....

Exactly he hasn't even beat Margarito yet you need to slow down 8)

Floyd was a proven fighter at 135 lbs and managed to outpunch/out-slick Chop Chop and Gatti at 140 lbs. He definitely needed the Mitchell fight to see how he would perform 7 pounds north of the Light Welter border and he did not overwhelm Sharmba, just caught him with a sharp right lead to the body after his usual defensive mode fighting style for 6 boring rounds - so he didn't prove himself there, neither did he in the Baldomir fight, maybe in the Judah and Hoya but that is far too little for what he and his flock claim... Paul pounded Sharmba for four rounds and from any conceivable angle, scoring 3 knockdowns doing so, and that was after he took care of Walter Dario Matthysse who is about to challenge Kermit Cintron for the IBF title July 14, oh, that same Cintron who was demolished by Tony ( talkin about so called "public" fights, wtf do u mean with public?)... Now Floyd sneaks right leads, pity-pat punches, runs around the ring, rolls those shoulders on the ropes and corners for 12 rounds and the pair Tony/Paul need to have a blood bath classic a la Barrera Morales to sell themselves? Get outa here! Maryweather should be laughin straight to the bank with Curtis ( Ha ha ha ha) GGGGGG-Unot...

Didn't matter if it missed. You sound like you box, so let me just say it.
The jab was important..... even if he missed it kept Floyd thinking.... even if it was blocked.... the PBF couldn't answer back, often he wasn't in position to fire back b/c of that...NOW that's what's important.
Hey, Oscar isn't a man I want to use as my platform, but the fight happened and Oscar's jab did give Floyd trouble, so I'm forced to use it because I saw it, hell everybody saw it. Floyd just took the jabs, especially the ones that landed. It's because of Floyd's stance. Floyd's stance is precisely the reason he's good aslo. But up against a great jab, it has no answers.
And don't give me percentages man, watch the fight. :) this is boxing.... and boxing's not percentages it's effectiveness.
Sorry if I sound like an @ss. please answer back. cc

Fellas, Oscar was in the best physical condition he could get up to but he was far from being able to extend his jab for 12 rounds and keep Mayweather at bay or to inhibit him for getting in and out and out-pitty-pat-punch him all the way. That has to do with the styles, Oscar is no puncher and wouldn't have the timing or the cool to combine his left jab with that strong effective left hook out of the jab without Floyd stepping out of range first. Connect rates have to do with it at some extend as far as they measure precision, effective aggressiveness and volumes of punches thrown and in an undirect way, defense and ringside generalship... Oscar could not physically follow up his attack with careful well timed blows cause he was running after shadows and when he cornered Floyd, tried to make most of volume thrown, punching in bunches... Besides he could not have competed physically cause he could not stand the very fast pace and Floyd controlled the fight from that point of view, nothing else... Floyd is a product of Yankee propaganda, the Snoop Dog/ 50 cent pimpster hip-hop culture trasfered into boxing, to the ostrish skinned trunks, the fair ropes, the bs he pumps from his holla and U all love Him but that's not boxing, that has to do with Fashion, Hip-Hop Culture, Beefs between MC's, Floyd has to put up or shut up, consider the latter more difficult task for the guy...

i mean highly promoted when i say "public" tony has never been on HBO...not that i can recall...and beating sharmba did nothing for floyd and it certainly did nothing for williams because sharmba was an absolute mess when KT got through with him...and paul williams is okay but hasn't done anything to be mention with the like of cotto, pbf, shane, hatton, neither has margarito..but maybe that's why they're fighting to weed out the "pretender contender" to floyd, cotto, hatton, and shane....

i second that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Re: Hatton is handpicked by PBF... this is blasphemy, but please hear me out.
You all know what I am talkin about... Floyd is now Fashion in Boxing cause he is a masterful boxer for numba 1 but also cause he imported the bad ass attitude from the Hip Hop Culture ( Get Rich or Die tryin 50 cent style) in the way he trash talks, the filthy rich robes or the ostrish skin trunks he wears, and you all think he's cool and a boxing legend - no, he's just a very good defensive boxer who can get kayoed when you least expect, sorry guys, keep on pretending I am a fool and ya'all know best, lol

I guess i'll keep on pretending, but Floyd has nothing to do with hip hop he might like the music and be friends with some members of the hip hop community but that is as far as it goes. The attitude is confidence, real or hyped, and the willingness to play the villain. If you hate someone enough you'll pay for the chance to see them get beat down.

No shit sherlock...anyone can get KO'D..... The odds are strictly in his favor for not.
lets examine a few good defensive fighters of the past 15 years or so..
Pernell Whitaker- Never TKO'D(except for broken clavikle) or KO'D
James Toney- Never TKO'D or KO'D
Bernard Hopkins- Never KO'D or TKO'D
Winky Wright- Never been KO'D or TKO'D
Floyd Mayweather- Never been TKO'D or KO'D
If you cant agree that Floyds defensive skills are amoungst the best of this era and generation, thatn you need to evaluate your motives for downing Mayweather... Is it fair well informed unbiased analysis... Or blind hate toward him.. By the flavor of your posts I'll pick the ladder and not the former

man floyd just does all that hip hop shit for entertainment...in the ring he could care less about 50, or any other nut licking rapper...if for one second he felt that shit would be a detriment to his career it would all go away...floyd respects all his opponents and everything he does is just to sell tickets..they wanted to make him ray leonard but he didn't wanted to be fake (meaning Ray leonard wasn't the super nice smile guy that he pretended to be) And floyd just like anybody can be kayoed, because that's the only anyone will ever beat someone who can box like him...impossible to outbox him for 12 rounds, so yeah if he loses it will by ko or tko...

JonesJrMayweather, I can see just by ur nickname dat u r a fan of flashy, slick, skilful and smart boxers, so do I... I rate Roy, Floyd, Winky and Sweat Pea all in the same category, being Shane and Meldrick in between, but dat doesn't tell the whole story concerning who's who in the respect issue... Floyd didn't respect Gatti and once called him a C+ fighter, never respected Hoya callin him a Bitch before the fight and even though he's been after that fight ever since he was struggling with one Victoriano Sosa in Fresno, CA at 135 lbs and now calls Shane a sparring partner just cos he beat Oscar, well, Shane beat Oscar twice... I don't buy the Super Smile Nice Guy in Leonard but we all know he was classy and soft-spoken, not like the "Mexican Assassin" cocaine smuggler Roger or ex-convict Papa Floyd, so if Floyd is not a bad motha fucker why does he pretend to be one? He doesn't even look like a lovable wacko a la James Toney or a psychotic, rude/tough B-Hop (specially when he - Floyd is wearing glasses)... You are all like taken by his hip hop propaganda to say that he can't be out-boxed ( Larry once said that, I believe it was against Baldomir), of course he can be out-boxed or out-brawled like Duran against Ray in Montreal... Shane can beat him to the punch and surpass him in volume of punches trown, Tony can impose a jab and body snatch him all night long, Miguel may just steamroll him against the ropes and out of there like he did to Zab and even Ricky can tag him first with left unorthodox volleys and meaty body shots and tie him up time and time again, Floyd being a virtuoso is just a Myth like Roy was, mark these words of your humble Dorfmesiter, Peace

Comparing Floyd to Roy doesn't work, Floyd has a very strong boxing foundation not just reflexes and speed.
