I didn't mention the other fighters cause I could possibly have them rated at another div. for example SRR I have him rated as a Middleweight I think he did his best work there...

Not sure what that was for or I must be half asleep (it is 1:00 in the morning here)
I've discussed this several times Pryor had a very short career and just didn't do enough for me to consider him the best 140 lber. ever....

Clean out 147. He is one of the most defensively skilled ever but he has a long way to go before he can be in the class of the top 20 or so ATG.

In my opinion there are two ways for PBF to truly achieve the status of a legend.

the thing we gotta realize here is that regardless how good D-hop is or not hes gunna get big fights because of his name and promoters oscar and uncle bernard. We all know he looked bad in his last fight but got the decision anyway. Good call on Travis Simms i'm going to see him fight Saturday but i doubt Floyd would ever consider him his promoter has yet to get him a big name fight he has talent but will it be recognized??? And dude you gotta be serious Aaron Pryor hammers all of those guys except maybe Chavez. All those guys never had any big fights.

Answering to the question, if Floyd beats Hatton and wins against the so-called "welterweight series winner", he'll simply be the best fighter of his era and since this era is like any other, that goes to say he'll be one of the best fighters of all time - being a legend takes more than just winning those two fights, just consider how many fights Robinson lost and nobody questions he is a legend...

If he beats Hatton and later beats the winner of Cotto-Margarito and ends his career with a win/loss against Mosley, than floyd Mayweather in my book has proven his point and doesn't need to prove anymore.
But, If he continues to duck the great fighters just because they won't bring enough money, or aren't big money fighters...than he's never going to win the respect he deserves. He needs to fight the best and prove himself. Don't fight fighters whos' style favors him....he needs to fight whomever, whenever.
Mosley fought the best, Tito fought the best, Oscar is still doing it, and Hopkins did it.
Stop worrying about the money and start caring about his legacy.

His biggest problem is that boxing isn't the sport it once was. There arn't the superstars any more and even if fought the very best at 140, 147 and 154 there still wouldn't be any superstar names on his record.
Mayweather will never be as big as Leonard, Hagler, Duran etc no matter how many fights he has and who he beats.
Don't blame the sport!!! Fights like Leonard, Hagler, Duran fought and let everything on the ring when they had to do it, and they will be great in any era. The problem I see with Mayweather is that he is showing great skill to avoid being punched, but he is not having great battles. Kind of ironic but, at this moment he has been able to beat most of his rivals easily without the need of pressing the fight and create a real battle. Although dominating easily he is not winning with impressive KO's. And, probably this is something the general public wants to see, but he is not giving that part.

even with all the belts from the multiple divisions he won't get there..IMO he is.....but I think it will take him unifying a division...all the greats have done it.....you gotta get the gold and lock it up....

FLoyd has the talent and skill of a legend, IMO right now he needs to set up big fights with guys like Hatton and Cotto. The De La Hoya fight made him a household name, everyone is watching him now so he has to take advantage of that by winning more big fights. Victories over Ricky Hatton and Cotto would catapult his legacy to that of a legend IMO, but if he choses to retire right now while he's still in (ot at least not too far off) of his prime and there are still huge fights to be made and more to be proven, history won't give him the credit that his skills deserve. He'd be short changing himself and boxing fans everywhere.
