Are you Hispanic? just curious. ;D
Yeah. I also did some research, as opposed to throwing around uninformed opinions.
;)
Panama #2? I know Duran was great but I'm a bit stuck after him!
Admittedly, it's kind of a forgettable list. Ismael Laguna and Eusebio Pedroza are the ones that mostly stick out. But Panama has had 23 world champions, and with such a small population, it places high on a "per capita" basis.
On that basis, I agree + Puerto Rico also belongs on top on that basis, Iwas just going on the numbers but fair enough thats the truth if your basing it like that :coolclick:
CC back, Big Dan. Actually, you made me think 'cause the thread title is "Top 3 Countries with Great Boxers." Not all world champions have been "great boxers" (see John Ruiz). So in retrospect, I'd move Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela a bit further down the list. But overall, I think measuring the number of world champions per capita is a pretty fair measuring stick, given the size difference between countries.
Well-researched? I don't see any proof of it being well-researched.Per capita basis? Then the Philippines must surely be included in your list.
It most certainly is...
19th place (26 world champions, 89 million people)
Definitely you're wrong in your research. 26 world champions? A hint bro, take a look at my other posts and you will know how many world champions the Philippines has produced.
I got my numbers from BoxRec. So if it's wrong, you need to contact the folks at BoxRec and have them fix the error. Regardless, say the number is short by some 10 champions..... it still won't move the Phillipines up with "the big boys" in terms of per capita boxing champions.

I'm picking:
1.Mexico
2. United States
3. Philippines and UK (tie)
Limit your pick to three countries only. O0
To me, the Philippines is not even in the top 5 yet. But we're almost there. ;)
CC for recognising.
Top Three is.
Mexico, Puerto Rico, U.S. Honorable mention Cuba but real hard to get cubans off the Island but when they do they become a household name with boxing fans. Manny Paquiao has been good in bringing in the Philipines in to the boxing map, Jesus Salud was another boxer that put PI on the map. And hopefully that will encourage young kids to start training and have alot more prospects.
