Well unless you count punches hitting the gloves because Pavlik clearly won the round i bet if Wacko watched it again he would agree and yes Fenster your right Glenn McCrory can't be wrong because every boxer is a good judge thats why people Like McGuigan and Mason only had Lewis winning the first Holyfield fight by 1 point and that fight was about easy to score as making a bowl of cereal.

But come on Fenster Pavlik clearly won the round and as for McCrory he judged the round very poorly he should of seen Pavlik landed the better shots and the more shots and that alot of Taylor's punches were being blocked and the punchstats are the icing on the cake.

Punchstats are used with hindsight they're no good when scoring a fight live.

The point is, unless the fight is a complete shut-out people see things unfold slightly different. Silly to claim people don't know what they're watching after you've had repeated viewings and punchstats to back up your point.

I scored it for Pavlik comfortably when i was watching it for the first time when i replied to ACEA on page 2 i had only watched it once fact of matter is Pavlik won the round if your claiming someone won a round like he was with Taylor atleast watch it for a 2nd time and some people on this forum said they have watched the fight like 3 times and still had Taylor up by 3 rounds and have Taylor winning the 1st round and that escapes me it really does atleast take the punchstats into consideration when they are highly in favor of Pavlik.

Watching it live watching it 5 times watching it with the sound on or off it doesn't really matter Pavlik won the first round comfortably.

I don't agree, I mean Pavlik was even outjabbing Taylor, I think this fight was the first time I've ever agreed with Harold Lederman, I only gave Taylor the second and the fifth.

I was impressed with Pavlik, after the second he was agressive but not in a wild way, using the jab, the right hand, not opening up in a wild way but grinding Taylor down. Taylor just started looking desperate to me, I definitely don't agree that he was coming on, he did well in the fifth and I guess you could make a case that he won the sixth, but he was just looking desperate and tired.

I'm not saying Taylor couldn't beat Pavlik, he obviously can hurt Pavlik, but I don't think Taylor's chances of winning a decision are that good. His conditioning is just very poor and his defense just isn't good enough to avoid Pavlik's power for twelve round. I was shocked at how easy it was for Pavlik to land his jab.

I thought the scoring was a little funky, too. No way was JT winning that many rounds, especially the first.

As for Taylor beating himself, that's just crazy. It's not like he gassed out so badly that he was staggering around the ring - in fact, I thought he had won round 5 handily by timing Pavlik. Round 6 was a little closer, but JT was still throwing good, aggressive, intelligent shots. Even the first part of 7 was competetive, until Pavlik's duo of jab, jab-right combos got JT in trouble. Taylor got caught. Period. Why? I don't think it was because he punched himself out in the second round. That may have contributed to his loss, but I think a fresh Taylor still would have been in trouble from that right hand.

But that doesn't change the fact that Pavlik won first round he blocked alot of Taylor's shot landed the more cleaner and effective blows and if that isn't enough.

Rounds sometimes look a hell of a lot different than the stats would have you believe.

It wasn't only round two look at all the other rounds where he was all tense and throwing very energy expending haymakers that didn't land.

I disagree that he had Pavlik beaten or that he beat himself. he had him hurt but not beaten, but you are right, it isn't just energy expending haymakers. He's too tense in the ring and he always has been. He gets too hyper and amped up, then drops his right, then things go poorly for him. He was finally in witha guy that made him pay for that flaw in his game. That's just him. Some fighters are like that. He's the anti-James Toney. You could say he beat himself if he changed or fought differently than the way he came to be champion, but he did the same crap against Wright and Hopkins. They just didn't have have the raw power end the fight with two perfect 1-2's.

i agree this topic is crap. Sure JT did gas out but Pavlik still landed the KO punches and took him out of there. I did think JT was winning the fight but it doesnt matter he got knocked back into reality. I will say that he did deserve to get KOed due to his lackluster effots in the fights before this one.

I couldn't really careless because he knocked Taylor's ass out but the stats are well in favor of Pavlik plus he landed cleaner more effective blows if you want to try and deny the facts of the stats to make you feel better go ahead but fact of matter is they are the facts and Pavlik won the round you need to rewatch to round and pay close attention to Taylor's punches getting blocked like when he started off the round fast most of the punches were either blocked or they missed.
