The fights will be on two seperate networks.
The Contender 3 will not be on and they will show Gomez/Tackie and then on ESPN Classic, they will show Mora/Ayala. I don't know why they are doing this because these fights are at the same card/venue. Makes no sense. Contender people are dopes. I hate to say it.
Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
It all comes down to personal likes and dislike
A lot of people hate Judah, but I think he is great.
With me it all comes down to the personality. Ali was arrogant, but he did it in such a manner, everyone could tell he was playing for the camera.
So I guess how I look at it is that a fighter can say their sh!t don't stink all they want. If they actually believe it though, then they need to be smacked down.

That rude the East Coast crowds talk so much trash and with very foul language, your people have no real respect. I have seen and dealt with them myself and the things you people say and do would make Satan blush.
If people were being very rude to you, would you not try and return the favor? I mean your kind go way over board. Profesional athletes can not flip the bird? In your post above, you made it sound as if he is not even a professional athlete but now you claim he is in your prior post. Make up your mind.
first of all, that was not in "my" area.
that was the weigh in for the contender, which to the best of my knowledge was held on the west coast.
However when he did come to "my" area. He was extremely arrogant during press boxing functions. He was walking around like he was fwockin roy jones jr.
Now as for "my" area being full of hillbillies? im from the east, and how does that have anything to do with being a hillbillies? Both fighters you acuse of being hillbillies are italian americans. Do you consider italian americans hillbillies? or just white people in general.
Stick to the topic, stop trying to be so offensive, and just make your point which you have yet to do.
Second of all
Sergio mora is a professional athlete due to the license he was granted to fight in a professional sport. Do I believe, in MY opinion that he carries himself in a professional manner? NO. You want to applaud a professional athlete for acting like that with the public? fine you do that, but all that does is show what type of person you are. You applaud that, then you applaud ignorance.
So crucify me for having an opinion about your boy.

Sounds like you are still bitter about Mora beating Man-fredo Jr.

i agree with Deuce.. Mora is way too arrogant for his puny resume. Reminds me of someone called.. oh right, Joe Calzaghe? yeah.. i said it. ;D At least Calzaghe seems to be full of class in interviews and such.. it's just when he gets cocky and arrogant cause he has defended his title so many times and blah blah blah.. i don't deny these people have talent, but fight the best competition out there DAMNIT and stop talking about how good you are. At least manfredo fights any big name he can get in the ring with.. as does Taylor.. as does Mayweather. no one can deny the balls that these guys have.. but Mora's are questionable after ducking Taylor, even if he felt he was gonna lose.

once again, my dislike for mora has nothing to do with him beating manfredo. My dislike for mora is his arrogant personality, him acting like he is more than just a winner on a reality show. He had an opportunity to face the champ, and he ran (just like your lil pbf pic). He made excuses like he didn't like the location of the fight, he didnt like the money, But he was still confident that he could beat taylor. But ran from the fight, *DISCLAIMER* i am not the biggest manfredo fan (AGAIN not the biggest manfredo fan) but at least that kid went to another whole different country and fought the champ in his home turf. And for that reason manfredo will still have prosperous opportunities ahead of him. He has fought 2 times since the contender, and the level of opposition never increased. Once the latin fake gets starched, whether its against a champ (if he ever gets the opportunity again) or an average B fighter. No one will breath the name "latin snake" again.

Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
I don't really like Mora. Here's my reasons.
I feel he won a couple of his contender fights only because he acted like he won the round. Standing in the middle of the ring after the bell, standing on the ropes and hitting himself in the chest. Basically I think he got showmanship points. Against Turpin, and Smith in my opinion he didn't win those fights. He just acted like he did. Maybe the fights weren't as close because they were edited and he really did win, but from what I saw he didn't. Or they could have gone either way and he got the favorable nod from his macho antics.
Second he stated that if he ever gets ko'd he's quitting boxing. To me he's not a fully committed fighter. That's why I don't like him. All the other stuff is fine with me. Somebody had to win the money, flipping off "fans" or hecklers doesn't bother me. Hanging with SRL goes with the territory. Just the some what gifted decisions, and his statement of quitting when he gets ko'd. Don't hate him though. Just don't like him.
Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
....when he passed on the taylor fight mora really disappointed me. Fighters train, live, and breathe boxing to hopefully one day be a champ and sit on top of their division, this guy got an undeserved chance and passed, so i ask myself what is he fighting for ??? He gives me the impression that he is more than content being only a contender champ and beating up on other contenders from time to time. While other contender fighters are staying busy looking for important fights he passing on them. The contender belt he probably looks at everyday (and he should he earned it) holds no where near the weight he thinks it does. It's time for him to shut people like me up and go after a real belt, especially since there are so many who think he can, my thing is i don't think he's convinced himself that he can...not in the real boxing world.
Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
I does seem like Mora is more concerned with not losing and not getting KO'd than anything else. He probably made the right assessment that he wasn't ready for Taylor. I think only time will tell, whether he was being smart and just waiting to gain experience, or being chicken.
The other thing to think about is many around him may have been telling him he wasn't ready for Taylor. That could definitely have taken the steam out of his sails, or he may really trust advice from those around him. Of course, most of the warrior types would just go ahead and go for it, but he seems to be more the calculating type. Again, whether he's calculating how he can milk the most out of his career while avoiding as much danger as possible, or really trying to find a path to greatness, IMO remains to be seen.
I can find the Mora fight, but can't find the Gomez one on Comcast. Maybe they just haven't finished updating the schedule yet?
Re: Sergio Mora & Alfonso Gomez make weight & are back in action Tuesday night.
I think Ayala's only chance is to go for the k.o., he has lost twice to David Banks, who is featherfisted, so he obviously has some work to do on technique...advantage to Mora. If Mora sparks(I'm adopting this phrase from you brits) him out then he deserves a little credit. He should have fought Banks instead, but he might have gotten outboxed.

The mora fight is on espn classic, and the gomez bout is on espn. It's still labeled as the contender at least here on dish, that may be the problem.

See...now I'm just the opposite.
I like Mora (not as a person) in the ring. He's got game & he can put his punches together...but he needs to be humbled.
He got 1million dollars and a fake title for beating 4 journeymen(i really hesitate to put this slash but i suppose it is necessary)/fringe "contenders" ::**. There's people in legit title matches against legit opposition that don't make that much. How can you be down to earth after that?
Who said I wanted him to be down to earth? I know plenty of people with money that aren't assholes. I just think that a loss would bring him "down to earth" in terms of his attitude inside the ring...he can be a total douche bag outside of the ring once he get's his a** handed to him...if it changes him inside the ring & brings him closer to focus...I'll be just fine with that.
What attitude? Post a vid or a quote from him showing us all what an arrogant asshole he is?
He's no different from any fighter, actually much nicer than most. He gave Manfredo massive props when he fought Scott Pemberton at which he was ringside saying that Manfredo fought like King Kong that night. Contrast that with Peter Mafrendo who guest commentated on ESPN when Mora fought Regan and Manfredo just kept putting Sergio down.
But like I say, if you think he's arrogant or needs humbling post a vid of him at his arrogant worst
There are no videos of Sergio talking shiet. Those that have gotten to know me, know I appreciate Sergio.
Anyone who hates Sergio was a fan of some other Contender on the show. That's the truth nothing more and nothing less. What is so funny is that I think El Gamo has never even seen the Contender and he does not like Sergio Mora. (How can you not like some one you don't even know anything about?) Sergio is nothing like Malignaggi in the rude, big mouth dept. Sergio has always tried to be respectful and the only time he might talk shiet is when some one talks shiet to him first. That Manfredo Sr incindent in the corner was Manfredo Sr and Cousin Robbie's fault. They kept talking shiet to Sergio while they were in the corner calling Sergio a punk etc. And Sergio just told them watch this! And he laid the smack down on Manfredo Jr.
I repeat, any one who hates Mora, hates him because he beat Manfredo Jr. 3 times. If you hate Mora, you are a Manfredo fan. Cut and dry plain and simple!... or unless you are just a hater with out any foundation. Sort of odd people who don't know him, don't like him.? Sounds like closet Contender fans to me.
Sergio was smart not fighting Jermain. I hate to say it but no one can get a win over Jermain unless you knock him out. The judges all had Jermain Taylor ahead on their score cards vs Pavlik. I had the fight very close and if anything, I had Pavlik up by one.
Manfredo might get credit for going all the way to Wales to face Calzaghe but that is all he did. (Where is the honor in this? Did not deserve this title shot niether) Notice I said face because he never faught. Manfredo threw about 15 punches in totality in the entire 3 rounds. That was not a fight. He did not go to win. He just went to try and survive and then later just be able to say that he was in the ring with a great fighter such as Calzaghe. I hate Manfredo and his fans. Manfredo Jr is a bigger hypocrite and even a bigger hater than I am. So are his fans. Manfredo is a nasty yuk mouth yellow tooth islander ;D
Danny, over time, I've gained respect for you as a poster, but you gotta learn to support and defend Mora without trashing Manfredo and dissing anyone who supports him EVERY time Mora's name comes up. It's been while since that show ended and it's been a while since those fights. Peter has his own career and Mora has his own career. If you think Manfredo has gotten too much attention being runner up, please let it go. He's done well by fighting often and taking the money that's come his way. Can you blame anyone for doing that? Regardless of what happened on the show or in the rematch (we can just agree to disagree on decision of the rematch), Peter has been busy and he's tried to improve his game and capitalize on his exposure. He didn't win the big money, so unlike Sergio, he hasn't had the luxury of waiting around. That's no knock on Sergio. He earned his money, and with it, the ability to decline certain paydays if the opportunity did not seem right to him or his management team. Fair play too him.
We've had a number exchanges the Manfredo/Mora issue and I'm just plain tired of it. It's worse than the Lindsey Lohan/Hillary Duff feud and East Coast/West Coast feud rolled into one. Over time, I've become less and less of a fan of Manfredo, but nothing and nobody will convince me Peter lost the fight in L.A, though Bilbo has made Mora's case well. I've admitted that I was biased in the first fight and repeatedly admitted that I was wrong.
I would think, that since your man won, and since you are confident that your man is the better fighter and the the better person, you would just ignore all issues relating to guy you see as an overrated asshole instead of dragging his name into every Mora-related discussion. Not everyone who dislikes Mora is a Manfredo fan and not every Manfredo fan dislikes Mora. Last I checked, Manfredo takes plenty of crap on this board and I really don't think he's so popular that he shapes every negative opinion of Mora. Anyway, It seems that Mora has had the last laugh in the feud and that speaks for itself. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Mora get on with his career, and I'd like to see him fighting more than once a year. I was disappointed when the Ouma fight got cancelled, and it wasn't because I was hoping to see him get beat up. I wanted to see him do well.
