Well thats an opiniojn, but when ur shit tired in mid ring with a man of that size and all you can do is punch occasionally and hold u have to put in some effort just to stay up.Quote:

1) Will to win...... in his last round at 147 it was "Will to survive" not "Will to win."
2) Wrestle..... he does impose his size and strength, but at 147, it's not as effective.
3) Hug and Hold style...... I don't think Vegas will let him do that. Even though, personally I'd like him to do it.
With Floyd ranting and raving, and it being in the U.S. ..... I think Hatton's style will take a back seat.
4) Stamina..... The last time I seen Hatton display his high stamina, was against Kostya and maybe Maussa.
He's been either ending it quick (which is good), or ending it in a slow decision.
5) It's not at Manchester.
I disagree with every one of them pointsQuote:

If he had no will to win he would have just gone down.....because staying on his feet pretty much assured him of the win.
2: Yeh it's not effective against a proper fully blown welterweight, but Mayweather int a fully blown welter weight. They might be fighting at 147 but that isn't either fighters natural weight.
3: Well vegas let him do it against Urango and Castillo so don't see how this fight will be any different. So long as the ref aint Jay Nady, Hatton will be able to go about this fight as he normally would.
4: Just because Hatton has two fights where he doesn't quite look himself, it doesn't mean he has questionable stamina. Against Collazo he struggled with the pace because of the lack of preparation and against Urango he was recovering from the flu. The flu wasn't an excuse nheither.....i saw an interview that was filmed 4 days before the fight and he was full of it.
5: He hasn't fought in Manchester since June 05......what's your point?
I think Hattons biggest asset is his upper body movement, he gets his shots off then smothers and avoids the return shots. Some say he clinches too much but I define holding as anything longer than about 2 secs, he doesnt blatantly hold. Ok, maybe a little in the Urango fight.... He also works the body consitantly and the pressure style always makes for exciting fights.
Pressure.
I agree Gyrokai, I think the only thing hatton has going into this fight is his heart. He was getting a beatdown from Collazo but somehow stayed up. Floyd is naturally quite a bit bigger than Hatton and has a nice reach advantage too. Not to mention he is a better boxer than Collazo. I think this will be the first Floyd fight in a couple years that doesnt make it to 12 rounds!Quote:

Dont think he will be much better now....fighting at the same weight against the number 1 p4p boxer in the world. All his assets are neutralized and Floyd will pick him apart imo.
Thanks dasamm and ono for the reply.
To be honest, Ricky doesn't spar. At all. I think that's his undoing.
And the reason why he wrestles and imposes his size on other fighters.
And if he's started to, he's just started to. But he doesn't spar.
He lacks certain technical skills, but makes up for it in pressure and stamina.
I believe a pressure fighter must spar. That's my philosophy.
It helps a fighter learn to adapt to styles.
When Collazo put the beating on Hatton.......
Hatton had NO answers....... I mean NO answers other than getting hit.
I've never seen Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, even Williams in that position...
all fighters mentioned always adapted.
Mosley's been in that position before, but it wasn't like he was hit at will.
Luis had Hatton "OWNED."
Drawn into this despite my better judgement - either you are desperate for a response or you are an idiot. Hatton doesn't spar, and never has? That's ridiculous. As for the Collazo fight, it was close and he won. How does that translate to him being "owned"?
Before the Castillo fight Steve Forbes was in amp for three weeks sparring.Quote:

How can you validate your statement?
Joe Calzaghe doesn't spar, Ricky Hatton spars, check the interviews from the past couple of weeks on Sky sports.com Theres one in particular wher his right eyebrow is red as a beetroot and nearly as swollen
Well here is a list:
Relentless pressure - never gives opponents a moments breather
Quantity and accuracy of punches - many times throws over 1000 punches a fight and has success rates sometimes at 40%
Wears opponents down - is a bit like playing a fish - he makes them more and more tired and as this occurs he takes more and more chances, until they are so weak he knocks them out and they have no will to continue
A fanatical student of the sport - he has a deep passion for the sport and studies all aspects of it to the minutest degree - he loves the sport and knows tactics and details to the finest details, unlike boxers who fight purely for money (hence would inherently not like spending every second watching the same video 100 times)
A wicked body punch - he has finished numerous fights wth it
Excellent footwork, allowing him to throw punches from all angles, to feint and wrong foot opponents using split second gained to land own unches without getting hit himself too much - the times when he gets hit are often so that he can land his own punches which he has calculated will do far more damage
Will to win - feeling of invinciblility and destiny
Training - wicked stamina - when no training hitches he gets more and more brutal as the fight goes on
A good chin
Excellent boxing brain - he knows his gameplans before the fight starts
Thats enough for now !
I think it is very likely he will destroy Mayweather with body shots on 8th Dec, this is gonna be an awesome fight
