Re: The Official Mayweather-Hatton 24/7 Thread
I think the star of this series will be Hatton's trainer Billy Graham (i think that's his name). Man, I got hyped for this fight when Billy said something like "I hope they think that (Hatton's one dimensional) on that night because they're gonna be in for a bloody cold shock" and then took a drag from his cigarette. It just seemed so ominous and chilling. Too bad the only shock anyone's gonna get that night is from a late Mayweather TKO.

LOL. Billy is awesome; and he hes that serial killer look. I really can't even understand Ricky that well and have to rewind it to figure out wat he said. I liked when Ricky said something like " if Floyd stands and fights with me he'll get eaten". Great stuff; though something I would expect Vargas to say ;D

Floyd will be leaving the MGM Grand on a stretcher, that will be the last time we see Mayweather in the ring, unless he decides to become a gay porn performer.
Wasn't that Hatton who was shown buck naked ready to get bended over?

Yeah, what's up with Hatton always showing his butt? I love Ricky but not enough to appreciate his backside. I sure hope Kerry Hayes and Billy don't start doing it or I'm outta that show.

It goes both ways bro'. Floyd tells everyone that Hattons fans are really coming to see him, not their "British Idol" Hatton. That's just as silly as Hatton saying 33,000 vs. 33. It might sound as if I'm trying to get into a pissing contest with you, but I don't do that on here man{except if Violent Demise implies I wear dresses and panties} ;D
LEGION,
May I offer some perspective here: Ricky has had 3 fights in the US. None of those three fights sold out. When the Mayweather fight is announced, the tickets sell out in 30 minutes. So, it is with THAT disparity in mind that Floyd says that the fans are coming to see him.
Would the British fans fly over to see Floyd fight Cotto or Margarito? Of course not. But neither would they (or did they) fly over in those volumes to see Ricky fight anyone else.
How do we know that? Because we have three previous Hatton fights as evidence.
Fair statement?

Floyd's intent was not to intimidate Ricky. It was to annoy Ricky. Floyd has annoyed Ricky.
You don't intimidate someone by dancing and singing in their face. You do that to aggravate the guy.
At the end of the day, all the trash-talking does is to give us internet boxing junkies something to discuss. So let's not complain about it too much.
The only thing that matters is what happens in the ring on 12/8. Whoever loses is going to be very emotionally wounded. Floyd would be anyway. And Ricky is very emotionally invested in this fight.

I disagree, Floyd has tried everything to get to Ricky and all he's done is laugh it off. You know deep down that both of these guys think they can beat the other, it's not a case of one of them having the upper hand, In Floyd's head Hatton is just another opponent, in Hatton's head he believes he has the style to beat him. If anyone has an upper hand in the mind games it's Hatton. Mayweather was shocked by the fact Hatton didn't rise to it, instead he laughed and joked. He was also shocked by the reaction he got in Manchester, he'll have never seen anything like that. If someone had thrown Floyd into that crowd he wouldn't have got out alive. It was as hostile a reaction as you'll ever see. If it had been the 80's then a full on riot would definitely have ensued, however the English have learned from it's hooligan ways.
Re: The Official Mayweather-Hatton 24/7 Thread
I dunno, Yoits.
I've seen a coupla different versions of that Mayweather presser. FMJ didn't exactly appear to be a shrinking violet in front of that crowd.
Hostile crowd? NO DOUBT. But Floyd continued to tune them up.
We agree, however, that the loser will be absolutely MISERABLE. Floyd can't envision losing to "a C-class fighter". And Hatton doesn't want to lose to someone who has so consistently 'disrespected' him.

For sure, neither man plans on losing, and neither man has had to suffer a loss yet, that just adds an even bigger edge to this fight.
:coolclick: I like this type of debate, and we found some common ground. Welcome to the forum, I hope you stick around my man.
Re: The Official Mayweather-Hatton 24/7 Thread
Take a look at this, its just before he steps out into the manchester crowd, you can see he's fronting but also he looks nervous, the guy he shakes hands with is Ricky's brother Matthew, you hear him say "I'm a' give ya'll 2 for the price of one"

Fair statement and point taken DIOS, and I understand what you're saying. Obviously Floyd's fights sell quick, and this fight with Hatton would have sold with or without the Hatton fans from Britian being able to purchase tickets. The way Floyd made it sound though was that the British only wanted to see him and not Rick, which is laughable.
On a sidenote, how many fans followed Ricky over to see Hatton/Castillo? Several thousand? That's pretty impressive considering the large cost it must be to make that kind of trip overseas just to see a fighter. Pretty loyal fans. If this fight were in Britian, how many "fans" of Floyd would incur that kind of cost to follow Floyd across the pond to watch him fight? Maybe 1/8th the number that came over to see Ricky fight Castillo, if any.

VERRRY few Mayweather fans would travel to England to watch him fight.
But to be fair, how many would go watch Oscar fight? How many DID go watch Tyson fight overseas?
It has as much to do with the cultural differences as it does with the fanbase. US fans are too US-centric to travel overseas to watch a fight. Even Oscar wouldn't draw a big overseas crowd.
