Does it or does it not directly quote Joe saying he wants £2.5million? If you're basing your argument on a newspaper article, then you better make sure it's solid and not just some journalistic flair. It's that simple.

What where the Vegas odds against Hopkins winning Tarver or Tito
What have been the odds on every single fight Joe's fought?
It really is that simple
What was it Bernard against tito?
43-1?
One fighter has shown a desire to take fights nobody thinks he can win
The other hasnt
Man it gets simple when you think about it

Dang man, you're like a politician trying to duck this question. And that's because you and I know the answer.
But look at it from another angle, and you have Tito and Tarver taking fights they believe they will win, whilst Calzaghe can't find a fight where people don't think that he will win.
Except for the Lacy bout, where Lacy was quite a big favourite, certainly amongst the British bookies.

In all honesty If Joe would put his head down and moved a little more,I think he might take Bernard at his age.
The fight I want to see is a Calzeghe/Kessler rematch on neutral ground.Even if Mikkel had both hands working, you know, and I know he had no chance for decision.
Kessler should show his promoter the door as well
Your dodging the question,Bernard take the fights noone thinks he can win
When, exactly, has Joe EVER once done that?
nAme one time Joe has ever doen that
The best Joe has ever done was make people think it might be a good fight.
He's NEVER,EVER,EVER taken a fight nobody thought he had a chance for.
Those are the only fights Hopkins is interested in anymore

So why is Hopkins angling for a fight with Calzaghe then? IF nobody thinks he can win, why are there so many people on this forum singing Bernard's praises day in, day out, week in week out. There isn't a fight out there that nobody thinks Bernard Hopkins can't win.
Joe has never fought anyone where nobody thought he could win, because there is no fighter active in the area of his division which would have given him that, except for RJJ who never showed any enthusiasm for a fight, nor even made any sort of run for such a fight.
Question answered. Now will you return to my previous question which you've carefully avoided for the previous three posts.
Re: Fighters we love to hate no matter how good they are...
If Bernard had never fought outside of Boston?NY/Philly/and Dc
Roughly the same stretch of property as Joes fought in all but once
And his best fights read
Sanavia
Sylvester
Sandra
Cervara
And Joppy
Instead of
Holmes
Joppy
Eastman
Trinidad
De La Hoya
Tarver
Echols
Wright
How willing would you be willing to take his word?
You wouldnt and you know it
Face it,Hopkins has faced everyone in front of him,Joe hasnt

Will you, or will you not admit that Joe Calzaghe is not directly quoted in the article you used to back up your argument wanting only £2.5million to fight Hopkins.

Will you,or will you not admit,if the Sun had stuck theyre nose in that bad to the point of lying, theyd have gotten sued?
Face it,if,and I do mean if,the offer Hopkins made to Calzaghe is as reported, thats almost 3 times what Hopkins made himself to fight Wright.
Its not exactly like he's offering $800,a couple of plane tickets, and free lodging now is it?
We're going to come back to this again,so Ill save time.
Who has Joe fought?
Kessler and Lacy
Lacy was doomed from the moment he signed on,and Kessler had to knock Joe out,and couldnt do it with a bum hand.
Stupid on him for signing on to the fight,at those conditions, stupid on him for not pulling out when he was hurt
Lacy's managment threw him to the wolves, there was no way on earth he was ready for Calzaghe,I dont think he'd be now
Face it,Bernards been willing to travel and he's been willing to face overwhelming odds.
Joes been willing to stay at home and be a slight underdog once or twice
You cant re-write history, though Im sure Warren, and Joe's fans would love to
Re: Fighters we love to hate no matter how good they are...
Even at his ahem...peak, Tarver was loathed (pwerhaps justifiably)

Hi Mike ;)
Re: Fighters we love to hate no matter how good they are...
Tye Fields I hate with a passion. Oh....scratch that; as the title says "no matter how good they are", so he doesn't count ;D
Re: Fighters we love to hate no matter how good they are...
I think Rhun and Monkey have proven in this thread the main reason people hate on some fighters is because they are huge fans of another fighter. Kind of like if Hatton and Mayweather were on opposite ends of the weight divisions, the Hatton fans wouldn't pay any attention to the Mayweather threads, after all, we don't have many threads hating on Ivan Calderon because he doesn't have a rival that anyone gives a shit about.

No, no, and heck no. That was my point all along, is that the Sun was using some journalistic flair to just about stray on the side of the line where they didn't attribute the figure of £2.5 million to any source at all. It's cleverly done (guy I was with at Uni works for the Sun in Belfast, and he's a sneaky lil fecker too!), but the only point of having the number there is to give the article some gravitas.
And even if it was wrongly attributed, there's no point suing over that one because it doesn't reflect badly on anyone involved, therefore there's no libel.
And on the point of Bernard travelling.....he's left the States twice, Joe's left Britain twice. I don't buy the argument that Hopkins fighting away from Philly is more valid than Joe fighting away from Wales in England and Scotland. And after all Vegas is pretty much neutral territory with people going from all over the world to fight there, and not many fans from Vegas itself actually going to the fights, so it's not like being the away fighter at all.
