Miranda is not below the level of competition Kessler is used to facing.
The thing is Kessler is held in high regard because of those fights at Super Middleweight and his titles and etc.
The people you are mentioning that Miranda beat was at Middleweight and prior to getting starched by Pavlik.
Miranda's resume didnt mean anything after Pavlik stopped him. He basically has to restart building himself again, and the only name on his resume right noe after getting beaten is Banks. So Kessler has nothing to gain from a victory, if Miranda beats Adrande or someone like that or Lucian Bute, then that fight makes sense. But at this point it really doesnt, Mirands just got to super middleweight and hasnt beaten anyone of notice.
Kessler also has Beyer and Mindine on his record, one who is a current champ and another who was champ when Kessler fought him. Miranda has yet to beat a champion or a future champion. So Kessler got some names on his resume. Until Miranda beats someone close to the level of a Beyer or a Mundine then a Kessler fight should be out of the picture

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Kessler himself is also coming off a loss and needs to rebuild. There is a fight the networks are interested in. A high profile fight on American TV. It is there for the taking for him. It makes sense.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
Miranda has a big name and still decent hype in the USA.
To most American boxing fans, he has one loss againt Pavlik. I truly think he looked like shit before he even got into the ring. Most here believe he got jobbed in Germany. He also soundly beat Allan Green, a true 168lbs fighter.
IMO Miranda has plenty of credintials to have earned this fight. Epecially against a guy who is coming off a loss.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
Yeah but Kessler is coming off a loss to the number one super middleweight in the world which keeps him still in the place. And he was the number one super middleweight when they fought. Miranda's loss is from Pavlik who wasnt the number one middleweight in the world, and who people favored Miranda to beat. You can't compare coming off that kind of loss. Kessler is coming off a loss but it was to the number one super middleweight in the world and it wasnt a massacre so Kessler really doesnt have to "bounce back" so to say. Get what I mean?

But why is fighting Miranda such a 'bounce back' fight? Edison put in his time after the brutal loss and looked good against his 2 fights. Now he is deserving of a big fight.
Kessler main goal is to get a big fight in the USA. Who better than Miranda? Taylor wont fight him right now. And to most of you blind fans :lickish: Miranda is an easily beatable opponent.

You shouldn't be talking about "whats the better fight stateside" You should be asking who deserves the shot more. And Miranda hasn't done anything at super middleweight to merit a shot at Kessler. If Miranda beats someone like Mundine I'll be all for it.
I'm not in it for "who is the better fight stateside" all that leads is to big "money" fights that are utterly useless to the division. It's thinking that way that keeps fighters like Casamayor on the wayside and good fighters taking a back seat to exciting ones. I'd rather have a fighter earn his shot instead of having a spectacular KO and automatically thrown into the big big picture in a division. But maybe that's just me. But Miranda hasn't earned a shot yet so he shouldnt get one.

Unfortunately for a guy like Miranda it takes TV to force a fight for him. He is willing to face anyone, but none of the top guys will get into the ring with him. HBO wants Kessler. Hopefully, if he turns it down, they will start going down the list. Without HBO (or SHO), Miranda wont be fighting anytime soon.
And the stateside comment is coming as a result of what the Kessler camp wants: a big fight in the USA.

Why doesnt Pantera fight some ranked super middleweights to make it so that Kessler has to fight him.

Who's gonna fight him? Pascal was the highest ranked guy that said yes, and now that looks like it feel apart. Unless HBO steps up with some good money, all the other guys have plans.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
Have them fight on ESPN then. And what about Miranda fighting Bute? Gaining a Super Middleweight title?

He did his two tune up fights already. He is gonna sit idle until he gets a big fit. Bute wont fight him. Bute is gonna take a few easy fights and enjoy his title and fight in front of his home crowd. Maybe in 2009 he will take some chances.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
This is ridiculous... Kessler dominated everybody up until he faced Calzaghe, and gave Calzaghe his toughest fight in which Kessler was bascially outworked as opposed to outboxed. Kessler would eat Miranda alive... he is way better than him.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
Man this guys is somthing he knocks out banks and thiks hes the man what a joke that is to me.

It shoudn't surprise you, some people are saying Haye could knock out Wladimer because he beat Enzo at a whole different weight class then Wlad is in.
People shall always overestimate a more exciting fighter over a more tactically skilled one.
Re: Kessler scared of Pantera?
Some rep on me dude i agree i mean let him fight Bika, Andre, Pascal and maybe he get a shot at Bute or Kessler. I mean at least do somthing at the weight before you go against the top dogs but thats just my thoughts on that take it as it is.
