Calzaghe has always stood out and is certainly a different breed to the other fighters in the stable. They are all vulnerable to a loss, Calzaghe is not to be compared to them.

If Enzo Calzaghe and FW were still enjoying their brilliant run there'd be more "chance" of Calzaghe being the "unlucky" one.. "luckily" the bad run started before it got to Joe ;)

I feel both the physical and mental strength of Joe C is so underrated on the other side of the pond.....
Like Joe says it don't matter where they fight be it Vegas or where ever, because he has wanted this fight for a long time,
And come fight time Hopkins will be in Joe's backyard...When they get in The Ring, as its then just them two...
Joe will shine on Saturday, you will see him looking awesome in various ways, not just fast, but strong, smart, powerful, rough when needed, and slick too...It's Joe's time he has all the tools and he will deliver...

How is Hopkins going to win? He isnt going to outwork Calzaghe, doesnt have the footwork Calzaghe has and doesnt have the handspeed. He hasnt knocked out anybody in years so I cant see him stopping Joe, who has a heck of a chin anyway.
Its Hopkins who is in trouble here. Calzaghes speed is something Hopkins hasnt faced since Roy Jones Jr. And Hopkins is 43.

Bika and Reid's work rate wern't high either, but they slowed Calzaghe down with clinches and rough fighting, which Hopkins can also do because lets be real here, when its come to rough house fighting and foul play, Reid and Bika are poor men version's of Hopkins at that kind of fighting.

He was badly roughed up IMO, yes he did win the fight clearly on points but he was roughed up big time in the process. I don't really know why you consider Calzaghe a better fighter now than he was about 9 years ago. Calzaghe hit much harder back then plus he was faster back then IMO, but boxing brain wise yes he has evolved. Like i told you before Miles im favoring Calzaghe in this one, but i believe it will be a much tougher fight than you expect.

Thats the only time I ever recall Calzaghe being cut. He made it hard on himself and fought a messy fight. Calzaghe has always risen to the big fights and the ones where his legacy has been on the line and this is one such fight.
I do prefer Calzaghe as a fighter today. Since messing up his hands I feel he has become a better technical boxer. He doesnt rely on a big punch to get the opponent out but thinks a lot more now and adapts his game to any given situation. The Calzaghe of today would outbox the Calzaghe of a decade ago.

I think that too.
One of his biggest "faults" was being so easily drawn into a tear up. He seems a lot more confident and wiser these days.
Also.. the difference between Calzaghe fighting guys like Bika compared with Hopkins is Calzaghe wasn't just trying to win against Bika (it was a given he would) he was trying to impress, put on a show, he wont be risking mistakes by forcing things against Hopkins.. unless he desperately has too.. which he wont, hopefully.

We need to bear in mind that Calzaghe is fighting a guy who couldn't beat Jermain Taylor in two opportunities. I don't think many people would pick Taylor over Calzaghe. Plus what people are saying about how Calzaghe is a much better boxer than he was ten years ago are right. There's no way he'll get drawn into a war like he did against Bika. He's going to do everything off his jab and dominate Hopkins so that even Golden Boy judges can't give it to Hopkins.

Well, you know, Las Vegas judges. Hopkins won his last fight by a few points on at least two cards and it was much closer than that. If this is a close fight he'll get the decision.
