Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
Jhonny Gonzalez - rugged street trained boxer, gonna come back and silence everyone!! (pretty confident I stand alone here since most of you only know him from his losses to Vazquez and Penalosa)
Glenn Johnson - doesn't know how to duck people, been ducked by plenty and had judges give him bunk decisions, but he always keeps his head up and fights all comers.
Sugar Ray Robinson - Hard to find fault in this guy he fought just about everyone and their mothers.
I don't really care for people with undefeated records it usually means one of two things
1. They are protected.
2. They haven't fought enough people.
There are exceptions like Finito Lopez, but by far and large I maintain my stance.
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
Ernie SHavers
Kelly Pavlik
Ray Mancini
What can I say........I'm from North East Ohio.
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
Mike McCallum
Marvin Hagler
Alexis Arguello
They are just three guys who to me, represented the sport in it's truest fashion. I have lots of runner ups though that I could have easily added to the list. So many..I feel bad for being forced to narrow it down so much.
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
Kostya Tszyu
Roy Jones Jr
Jeff Harding.

S'a good list..
Course discounting sugar ray robinson in parts.. The guy is just the best and worthy of everyones list..
But johnson and gonzalez.. imo those guys really earnt respect..
I mean your right why we know gonzalez cos he fought vasquez and penalosa.. In loosing efforts.. But what we know about the guy is hes no pushover.. hes a solid, hard warrior.. And niether of those wins came easy to his opponents.. He was up against penalosa.. and he gave vasquez a loada trouble..
and the thing is its boxing.. people get stopped and in his efforts you saw what he brought to the table.. not just earning respect off nothing but against guys that people respect for even more reasons..
Now glen johnson i repecct eveennn moree..Lol
Glen is the man.. Hes humble. nice guy.. reached the big time so late.. fights the best.. deserves all the good things he gets..
i just like the way first he stops roy.. And yeah i still think roy wasnt the same but as it goes yeah its still all the same for glen.. thats publicity.. money, a hard nights work payed off.. The guy has a job to do and mouths to feed.. He beats tarver.. Gets robbed in a draw and catches a close decision in loosing to woods.. as well as beating him.. I think he got the wrong end of the decision against dawson too.. just this guy defying time and fighting hard.. his style kinda depicts his attitude too.. just comes forwards and keeps the punches coming.. defense is okay.. its like hes not amazing but hes good and solid nothing flashy..
I dont think anything has been given to johnson hes had to take it all..
hes a good guy :)
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
lennox # 1 for sure

Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
1) Matthew Saad Muhammad - The most exciting fighter I've ever seen. A real life light heavyweight Rocky Balboa who could take a frightful beating, yet come back & knock guys out - fantastic performer!
2) Willie Pep - The best pure boxer there ever was. If you want to learn how to box, watch Pep; a true master of the art of boxing.
3) Salvador Sanchez - Absolutely brilliant fighter: it's such shame that he died so young, as I believe he would have become a top 5 ATG.
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
Ali-His talents were otherworldy
Hopkins-walks out of Graterford prison at 21,ends up holding the Middleweight title for 20 defenses. I watch anyone win 2 rounds,1 handed in a championship fight because of a sepreated shoulder, when they could have quit and gone to the cards, where they were well ahead on.
You have to admire that kind of heart
Mancinci-All heart,no art
Honorable mentions
Foreman-they said that comeback was a joke, right up until they had to put the title around his waist
Frazier-Guts and determination personified
Manfreddy-Every time he got in to the ring, you knew he was coming for you, even if he didnt win,he was ready for war
Billy Miske-the guy was a dying and took a fight to give his family one last christmas
Jack Johnson-overcame vicious racism, and was probably the sports first real boxer, not a Queens Rules boxer
Re: Your three favourite fighters of all time?
1. Erik Morales- never in a boring fight, could do it all, box beautifully, using his quick stiff left jab and moving side to side on his toes, or tread foward, flat footed and just winging away, true, he cut his career a bit short by depending too much on his granite chin, and choosing to battle it out when he could have easily chose to box. Still his macho attitude and refusal to bow down to anyones will made him my all time favorite
2. Marvelous Marvin Hagler- could box just as well as he could brawl, switch up his stance in the blink of an eye, and be just as effective in either position, awesome power, stamina, chin, and determination. His hard head and brash mentality went in sync with his fighting style, his wins over the top of the middleweight division at the time, and his long unbeaten streak (which imo lasted all the way till the day he retired), IMO and as well as many others, the best Middleweight Champion of all time
3. Wilfredo Gomez- power, and huge heart, and willing to go to war, against top competition, makes him my 3rd, he needs no explanation
