Re: Where Is Floyd Mayweather Ranked In All Time Listings Now He Has Retired?
It's time to resurrect this thread due to FMJ's latest retirement.
So, where does he stand now?

Solid top 10-15 ATG. Hard for me to put him over SRR, Hank Armstrong, Duran, Ray Leonard, Ali, Whitaker...etc. things that hurt him in my rankings:
1. Quality of opposition: Floyd didn't duck anyone and at one point was chasing the big fights, but he never beat a prime Pac, Cotto, Kostya...etc., level fighter. Hatton, Chico, Castillo were all prime but a level below, and Pac just wasn't anywhere near his best. Just to be clear, I think he beats all of those guys regardless, but I can't put him over say Leonard who beat prime Hearns, Benitez, Duran and Hagler.
2. Pac fight debacle: Dominated his perceived greatest rival by minimizing punching opportunities. For all of the hype, money, and potential of this fight Floyd never pushed himself or tried to get. The stoppage for the fans. Boxing is worse off after that fight, and Floyd is more to blame because he was the better fighter who could dictate what went on in the ring. Hard to rank him over, say.... Ali, who made boxing a global sports priority in his fights with Frazier and Foreman.

After another 6 years of undefeated excellence after his first retirement, Floyd is at #1 of all time.
Re: Where Is Floyd Mayweather Ranked In All Time Listings Now He Has Retired?
Floyd gets knocked out by Hearns, Leonard and Robinson so how is he the best ever?
Floyd is not bigger than Ali, who is over 75 and still more known than him so how is he the best ever?
Floyd is not entertaining and always goes to points decision even against a handpicked opponent who has been stopped still could not manage to knock out so how is he the best ever.

Spoken like someone who knows nothing about boxing.
But you're British, so why is that surprising. There hasn't been a good fighter out of England since Eubank.

Re: Where Is Floyd Mayweather Ranked In All Time Listings Now He Has Retired?
Top 5 but I still got SRR, Ali, and Armstrong above him...maybe Monzon too. 4 or 5.
Re: Where Is Floyd Mayweather Ranked In All Time Listings Now He Has Retired?
He wears hats that say TBE therefore he must be number 1
Re: Where Is Floyd Mayweather Ranked In All Time Listings Now He Has Retired?
Top 10 maybe? To 20 without a shadow of doubt.
Top 5? No way.

Agree. No way can someone argue his place over Robinson, Armstrong, Ali, Pep, Duran, Leonard...etc. I can see a case for him to be around 9 or 10, which is still phenomenal, but I just can't see him breaking into the top 8 with his quality of opposition.
