I used to do hill sprints but I have heard different idea about whether or not it actually helps you get faster - is it not to train speed so much as strength when you get them to do it Scrap?
I remember a thread where I thought you said you were against using hills to train speed?
I thought it was to think there was somebody behind you about to shove a Red hot poker up your arse. ;D
Sharla its for condition, if you need speed use elastic with a partner.
Classic ;D;D
Hitmoddonny eh! good one.
Sharla you need a partner for this 10ft of elastic loop in the middle and at both ends. Both get strong belts and tie or snap link the rubber to the belt behind you. Your partner gets hold of both loops and as you run they pull you back as they walk after 5 secs of resistance they let go and you sprint faster than you ever thought for 15 metres, repeat as many times as is reasonable.
Careful when doing this. We used to do this all the time in the gym and a band snapped and just about broke a couple of my fingers. Within seconds my index finger was HUGE and full of blood. The force shot blood all the way in to the palm of my hand. Luckily, it didn't break anything and I didn't have a bout scheduled so I was able to heal but it sucked and could have been really bad.
Ouch! I'll keep that in mind.
I was thinking about rigging up something with a quick release string that could be pulled rather than having to have anything wrapped around fingers or hands - I'm not an engineer and yet to suss it out though!
Luckily My bro and his fiance are both engineers so I might have to go and pester them ;D
