Re: Why is Amir Khan so disliked on this site?
In most other countrys if there up and coming sporting hero lost the public would be gutted.
Only in Britian a large number of the public are happy to gloat, the same as when the England football team flop or in Wales when our rugby team goes belly up.
Sad but true.

Obviously that's not a great advert for Leeds as a town but that's just the way it is around here. I started a thread about it around 18 months ago and got shot down as the above was apparently a ridiculous reason and therefore couldn't possibly be true. I agree it is a ridiculous reason and believe me, it is true! It's shit and i can't stand that way of thinking....but as i say, i can only speak of where i live and i have spoken to a lot of people about Khan and have pretty much got the same response.
I think a lot of people resent a sesessfull rich Asian.
I think thats pretty strong comment and wrong one at that what has race got to do with it ? just because few idiots think that way doesn't mean *alot* of people think that way the fact is Amir Khan is an arrogant moron saying he could beat Floyd Mayweather over 4 rounds plus his 1.5 percent body fat or whatever it was
And please don't tell me Amir Khan has no saying in the match making its not like he is forced to fight a certain fighter if he wanted to fight a big name he could have easily have fought one the fact is Amir Khan has been wrapped up in cotton wool since day one all of his opponents couldn't crack an egg and as soon as he fought his first live opponent who could bang he lost..........
And its nothing to do with race i just don't like him end of and Amir Khan/Frank Warren have been conning the public it actually made me feel a bit sick when i see Amir Khan posing with all great fighters on a poster behind him.
Yeah but you're only speaking for yourself there ICE. I'm not claiming that everyone hates him because he is Asian. I'm saying i have spoken to an awful lot of people about him and more often than not, his ethnicity is brought up in a negative manner.
It's not really a strong comment to make either. It's a reflection of what has happened when boxing/amir khan has been brought up in conversation with a number of people i have spoken to.
Example: I watched one of his fights (limond) in Sports Bar in Leeds city centre and the minute he was put on the deck, the place erupted into racist mayehm. Sad...but it happened.
Hear what you're saying about some of the comments he has made. Ridiculous - the 1.5% bodyfat comment took the biscuit.
