a. You whine too often.
b. You whine in inapporiate places.
c. Your whining is unoriginal and stagnant.
You know me and you should get on more booze. I'm a whiny, melancholy, grumpy, sullen sod on this board and so are you. We both view others with irritation and disdain, we both grumble about our wretched lives.
The only difference is I at least get laid now and again whilst you get laid never.
But you shouldn't take that out on me. We are kindred spirits booze and you know it.
I suppose so. But I do get laid. But I don't like the Skank Fairy, so I dish it back at you. :(

Well I quess I am the exception to your post. I have no favorite boxer. I am a Fan of the sport of boxing. I will watch the great fights and the shitty fights.
Boxers come and go. The sport stays.
I don't play the what if, could of been, if this happened games that are played on the main board.
To me, it is all about the fight on the night. Did the fighter I thought would win, win or lose. If I can watch the fight and see the outcome, I know the "Why" of it. Do not have this burning desire to revisit it a thousand times over and over with ,What if's.
But thats just me.

Ghost,
Although I sincerely agree that that'd be a great way to see the sport.... I'll never see it that way nor do I see how a human can(though you're not;D you're dead)...
I just don't see how you can't have a favorite in a fight or be slightly bias to another fighter due to whatever attributes...
Like... You never idolized a boxer?
You can not possibly look at each fight as it's own with no bias cuz to do such is impossible...
Ghost, you know I respect you but what you say is simply impossible...
I'm not challenging you it's just simply the truth...
You have or never had "A" favorite boxer?...
Surely you jest, sir;)

Yes i think the guy who calls himself Bilbo , a poor excuse for a grown man , makes some valid points and perhaps the rest of us should all take a leaf from his book, and maybe , just maybe we could all be better posters , producing better threads , but most importantly of all , better people. Dare i say better like Bilbo Baggins and use big words like "fanboyism".
I for one could only hope one day i can better myself and reach those dizzy hights. But i guess the rest of us can dream .
Bilbo Baggins The Man ,The Myth ,the legend .

POB, I respect all boxers and yes there are some I like to watch more than others when they fight but that does not mean I am pulling for them to win either. None of them are "My" favorite fighter. I do not have one.
If I can, I will watch any and all fights, regardless of who is fighting. Even if I have never heard of them before.
I don't know what to tell you POB, I am a "Fan" of the Sport of Boxing.
Besides, if I did have a favorite boxer, he would never hear me, as I am dead. ;D

LOL that was funny.
Re: Does anybody else hate the fanboyism that dominates the boxing talk board?
Again, Bilbo has a point.... That's why I don't usually go to the main board after a big fight coz it will just make me crazy. These hidden boards are a refuge and a protection to my sanity.;D;D;D
Talking of fanboyism, please take a look at my sig courtesy of Danny. LOL.
Pacquaio is the greatest fighter of all time.
LMAO.

I respect that. If you're going for excitement then Joe can arguably be greater than Lennox Lewis. I was thinking along the lines of opposition and the fact that he has never faced anyone he hasn't beaten.
If Calzaghe beats Roy Jones to me his resume will be better than Lennox.
Lennoxes defining fights were against Tyson and Holyfield. Nobody can convince me that Mike Tyson and Evander Hoylfield were any less shot than Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones when Calzaghe got to them
Tyson had already been knocked out twice, disqualified once to avoid getting knocked out, had been in jail and was a shell of his former self.
Holyfield had been knocked out by Riddick Bowe, almost KO'd by Bert Cooper and was 38 years old and considered well past his best.
I don't see how those wins are any better than beating Bernard Hopkins who was the current Ring champ at 175 and has just pitched a shutout against the Ring Middleweight champ in his fight after losing to Joe.
Jones Jr has been knocked out twice just like Tyson but he's on a win streak and is considered p4p one of the best fighters of all time.
If Joe beats him, Jones and Hopkins are his Tyson and Holyfield imo.
Guys like Kessler, Lacy and Eubank approximate well to Klitschko, Ruddock, Bruno etc so I really don't see what Lewis did to achieve more.
When you factor in also that Lewis got ktfo twice whereas Calzaghe has never lost a fight then in my mind it's really hard not to put Calzaghe above Lewis IF he beats Roy Jones.
I actually disagreed until i read the whole post. You made good points here Bilbo but the only thing I could argue is that Lennox fought a better level of opposition throughout but then again he was twice beaten by lesser opposition which has obviously never happened to Joe.
