When our boxers put on that Vest in the Olympic games did you want some of the more exciting and superior foreign fighters they fought to win ?
"Go on,put me on the spot!"Ha;D,Yes i was rooting them all the way but when some of us got beat i was a bit gutted, but if they gave it they all and still got beaten by a greater fighter then hats off to them for trying!!

He won the title at 48 hours notice so it can't have been all bad

Bit of a bummer, but the guy who pulled out failed a HIV test and has died of AIDS.

Re: British v. American Rivalry
Everyone knows Americans are the best at boxing always have been ALWAYS will be. ;D Come on ROY!!!!:usa:
Re: British v. American Rivalry
I can understand rooting for a British fighter over a fighter from another country. Same goes for the World Cup. It is the same reason I root for the Lakers or the Dodgers or you root for Tottenham or Manchester United. I get it. It is not really me for the most part, but I get it.
For the posters who knowingly choose to root for British fighters against other fighters, do you also prefer European fighters over fighters from the rest of the world (including the US)? Would you root for a German boxer against an American boxer most of the time?

p4p based on population you are quite a way down the pecking order
Re: British v. American Rivalry
P4P we got the better competition makes it harder to build those undefeated (Frank Warren) records.
Re: British v. American Rivalry
HENRY COOPER. That is a cut.

Definitely not, if I based my support on nationality alone I'd feel more allegiance to the US fighter. Same language, culture, TV shows, music etc etc. We're like long lost cousins....
I never understood how the Ryder Cup gets so much attention, seems silly supporting players from Spain or Germany. I know we're all from the same continent but I have never thought of myself as 'European'.
I'm English first, British second. Nothing else third.
As for the whole US - UK rivalry thing. I think that just gets amplified more on this forum. As the majority of posters here are either American or British it stands to reason our nationalities are bought into most arguments...
