I agree that Hatton is being overlooked by the fans and pundits. I join you as one of the few people picking Hatton to stop Pacquiao. Manny's win over a nearly-dead ODLH is being given too much credence. I love MP as a fighter. Tremendous spirit and charisma. But Ricky beats him.
side note: Mayweather didn't have a size advantage on Hatton. Ricky outweighed Floyd on fight night.

Size was meant to say height here I believe.

I meant to say that Floyd at that point had pretty much grown into 147. Hatton no matter how heavy he is, just isn't that effective at 147.
To all the other Pac positive replies, I give full credit to Pac for his ODLH win. But judging the styles in this fight, I just don't understand how people are saying Manny will sidestep Hatton and use lateral movement and work the jab on Hatton. Sure, Hatton is hittable but I don't care who you are, Hatton WILL force you to brawl. The misconception about Manny is that he's a brawler because he's usually involved in amazing fights. Manny uses space to set up his punches. All the elite guys Manny's fought recently like MAB, JMM, EM, ODLH, and others, all used space and tried to bang with Manny from the outside. The fights were fire fights but they were still fire fights from a boxing distance. Hatton will crowd Manny, Hatton will use his underrated footwork and quickness to stay in front of Manny all night. Oh yeah, and everyone has problems with southpaws including Hatton. But even though he was the naturally smaller man and had physical disadvantages against Collazo, Hatton was still able to bend Collazo's will and make him fight his fight because the footwork and pressure from Hatton is confusing and tough to deal with for 12 rounds. Pacquiao WILL have to fight Hatton's type of fight for a certain amount of the fight and I just don't think he's built for that type of pressure. Manny should land a lot of clean shots but Hatton should win the fight.

but Hatton is a live underdog and as dangerous for Pacquiao IMO as Ortiz. First Pacquiao has to win the title, and second he has too many big fights to face Ortiz at this stage in his career. As great as MAB was, he was never the p4p king which basically means you have to make only block buster fights.
Taeth that's very gracious of you to admit that our Ricky, the undisputed Ring champ at 140, unbeaten at the weight, who defeated Kosta Tyszu, went up to win another title at 147 and after losing to the world's best fighter went back down and regained his title and undisputed claim to being THE man in that weight class is likely to be almost as dangerous as a decent prospect fighter like Victor Ortiz :)

Manny is a little guy with padding. You should realise that. Once Hatton lands early you will be doing your gay little prayers. ;)
Manny didn't just beat the old man of the division he's in. He beat the best out there. Who'd you like Pac to beat at 126 when he was there??? MAB was the top guy there. At 130, MAB, EM & JMM are the top guys there, He beat them all.
And who's the best name in Hatton's Resume?? Tszu right? How old was he when Hatton beat him? FYI, EM, MAB. DLH & JMM were a much bigger & tougher names than any of Hatton's toughest opponents.
You can keep your hopes alive but I don't see Hatton winning a round against Pac.
I love all the guys mentioned above but believe me Tszyu's up there with them. He beat everybody around and became undisputed.
Hatton beat an aged Tszyu yes, but he had looked good in his previous fight Vs Mitchell and though he wasn't at his best he was still a very tough opponent.
And Hattons Toughest opponent is better than all the above. You know his name? Floyd Mayweather. Sure Hatton lost but He'll have learned a lot from that fight and he wasn't totally mismatched!
Yep exactly, Tszyu, at the time, was PFP the number 2 fighter in the world when Hatton shocked the world. And the Mayweather fight Hatton held his own and had Mayweather on his heels for the first 6 rounds before Cortez screwed everything up. He stopped letting them fight, he took a point away while Mayweather was using his elbows and backhands and he wasn't deducted a point. Hatton has learned plus the fight is at 140 and Hatton has Mayweather Sr. in his corner. I see Hatton stopping Pacquiao in 9.

I admire your belief in Hatton but the truth is if hatton chose to Brawl with Pac, This fight will end very quick. Although EM, JMM & MAB are not a 140 pounder, those guys are in the top of the food chain when Pac fought them. Each of those guys at least hit Pac flush but nobody among them come close to Putting Pac down.
IT takes only Floyd one accurate shot to wobble Hatton. Floyd is not known for one punch KO artist. But a shot from him is enough to KO Hatton. Pac has put down Granite chin guys who supossed to be naturally bigger than him and he's doing this consistently. if I reconcile this facts it's clear to see that if Pac-Hatton's gonna Brawl and If you want to pick who will likely to fall in the canvas. The clear answer will be Hatton coz he visited canvas just recently.
Hatton has no real option to beat Pac. He can't outbox Pac on the outside coz his arms are too short to even land a Jab. He bang with Pac & his chin will fail him. Go toe to toe with Pac & he will end up busted up as Pac has the quicker, sharper & Stronger punch.
Hatton's chance is to make the fight dirty & Ugly as possible. But I don't see this happening coz Pac's foot speed are superior for Hatton to catch Pac. Either way I don't see Hatton winning this fight. His style is just made for Pac.

JUst recently watch the Hatton Tzsu fight last week. Tzsu & Pac style are way different. Tzsu is kinda too stiff in his movement & not a busy puncher. He catches hatton a lot but he can't follow up his shot. tyzu is kinda a Power pot shooter. hatton definitely is the quicker & the busier guy. tszu show his age in that fight. he just can't keep up with hatton.
Now describe Pac's style? It's called relentless pressure, In & out attacker. Pac attacks 2-5 punch, then make you missed, Then rain more punches on you. this was different than the minimal tzsu counter punching. Tzsu Probably average only 30-45 punches a rd. Pac doubles that easy with 75% of his punches were meant to hurt you.
I hope Floyd Sr has tought Hatton new technique to make this fight even competitive. But I see Pac dominating this from beginning to end.

Where the hell have you ever seen Hatton's insane footspeed and foot work?????????????????
Do you have some hidden footage of Hatton in back alley brawls or something? I have seen every fight of Hattons since he fought Pendelton....Insane footspeed and footwork are not words to describe hatton....
If Pacquiao keeps turning Hatton dis-advantage for Ricky...
Come in throw flurry step out...move to the side...get behind Hatton the second he turns flurry and move.....Simple enough..
Hatton has fast hands but he is no foot genius..average is all....If he had such great foot work and foot speed he would have done much better at WW and not looked like the struggling litte kid he did...
Hatton has a good chin, great work rate and great stamina..those are his bread and butter attributes nothing more nothing less...He is not an overly hard puncher.....he beats guys with volume...
This is not to say that Hatton will or will not win the fight because truth is with Hatton being the body puncher he is and histry proving that is where to beat Pacquiao it just may be the perfect recipe for victory....we will not know until fight night
But to say there is NO way for Pacquiao to beat Hatton and give Hatton skills he does not posess is just as bad as those you criticize for stating Pacquiao will win because he is a betting favorite if not worse

That is exactly what Pacquiao is going to do while Ricky is looking for a perfect time to land his body shot.
Chances of Pac landing his flurry after/before he spins Hatton around = almost 100%. And he'll be doing that all night too.
Chances of Hatton landing his perfect 1 punch KO to Pac's liver = I'd say 30%. And he will keep attempting that punch all night, and I'm sure Fred Roach is well aware of that.
...Imo.
