I would have no problem had the fight been stopped and called a no contest.........Obviously the cut was impairing Barrera and I think it was evident before the 5th that it is unlikely barrera would have been able to finish the fight with the cut...
BUT, the refs and the doctors are the experts and they didnt stop it so I will live with the decision. I think it was fair.
I think Khan showed he is a good fighter because if you can beat a fighter of Barrera's calibur (impaired/over the hill or not) you have to have some skills. But Khan wont be half the fighter Barrera was in his career.....
They didn't act so expert considering what we now know about the injury. It was not fair. Letting the fight continue showed negligence and gross ignorance of the scale of the inflicted injury.

on the one hand you say it was clearly impairing Barrera & he couldn't have continued for 12 but then you think it was fair to let it continue?
What if Khan had been a big puncher? That would clearly have been a very dangerous situation for a fighter.

The cut wasnt in a dangerous spot. They gave Barrera the benefit of the doubt and let his corner work the cut. Could they have stopped it a round or two sooner? Yeah, was it a total travesty they let it go to the fifth? No.....
Re: If Khan wins tonight,NO EXCUSES PLEASE!
There was no problem stopping the Guerrero fight a couple weeks ago, and the blood wasn't flowing nearly as bad, not to say it was or wasn't a worse cut. I just wouldn't be that excited over this win. Khan is lightning fast no question, but I feel majority of his punches weren't landing and even will go as far to say MAB rocked Khan with a couple shots with 1 eye no less.

Guerrero's cut was in a worse spot but the Ghost wanted the fight stopped and so they stopped it. Marco could have done the same thing..
Marco on the other hand wanted to continue. Barrera would probably rather have the loss on his record knowing he fought until they wouldnt let him fight anymore, rather than being a baby and saying he didnt want to continue.

it's not a matter of the the cut being in a dangerous spot. It was bleeding in to his eye. That makes it dangerous. The corner had four rounds to work and couldn't stop the bleeding. How many round do you get? It ran out from the 1st to the 5th.

Re: If Khan wins tonight,NO EXCUSES PLEASE!
Obviously Barerra is the type of fighter who doesn't want to quit. But at the same time he is a smart fighter and he wouldn't have continued if he felt like he was gonna lose the fight.
I don't get why Barerra would say after the fight "I think they should have stopped it sooner."
When it was up to him whether he wanted to continue or not.
Maybe to sell a rematch :dontknow:

I am amazed by some of the things I am reading on here. Seemingly rational posters are coming out with the most absurd things.
Khan has proven NOTHING with that win and was bloody lucky he has Barrera's scalp on his resume. His reactions to the fight are arrogant and deluded, I can't see Khan going too far at all. Seriously.
Re: If Khan wins tonight,NO EXCUSES PLEASE!
Who knows, maybe Khan could have beaten him. But you cant say that, because one guy was fighting with only one eye due to a headbut.

Barrera was moving and boxing well untill the cut, I counted one left hand from Khan landing prior to the cut.
Even with the cut Marco was blocking many shots with his gloves, he had no choice but to fight defensive as he could not see properly. Barrera is a warrior, of course he won't give up. Which takes me to my next point.
The fight is now in the hands of the referee and/or the ringside doctor. They all fucking failed IMO.
If people can't see that, I suppose were in a very small minority Miles.

Speaking of Barerra blocking shots with his gloves how many was he landing on Khan in the first round before the headbutt?
Anyway, what you fail to see is the fact that Barerra wasn't going to outbox Khan. The only way he was gonna win was by a one punch knockout. Khan was being too fast for him and had a good defense up as well when Barerra would throw a majority of them landed on Khan's gloves as well. And when Barerra went for broke Khan whethered it well.
Like i said that cut only brought out the urgency in Barerra 4 or so rounds sooner then it would have Khan.
Barerra wasn't gonna outbox nor impose his will on Khan. So if you want to come up with a way he'd have won even without the cut I applaud you.
