Re: Who Ranks Higher All Time, Ricky Hatton or Fernando Vargas
Peter Buckely fought some great opposition too, but like Vargas he didn't beat them ;)
How many really good wins did he have? Quartey and ????
All that said, I do think he was more talented than Hatton, just not as well managed ;)
Re: Who Ranks Higher All Time, Ricky Hatton or Fernando Vargas
Winky Wright, Javier Castillejo, Raul Marquez, Yory Boy Campas....those guys are a lot better than whoever Ricky beat

You've convinced me. I have to go with Vargas.

None of them are better than Tszyu (but of course he was shot:rolleyes:)
Winky beat him clearly imo
Don't know why I'm arguing I think Vargas was better. I'm just not sure his legacy will be

Vargas, by quality of opposition.

Not only that but he had very quality fights vs De la Hoya and Trinidad, it's not like he ever got totally smoked by somebody. Tito nearly took him out in the first but he fought back in a very capable manner and won his fair share of rounds in that fight. Sure he was lackluster vs Mosley and Mayorga but at the end of the day it was because like Ricky, Fernando liked to eat a bit and that and his lack of style after he fell in love with his power took it's toll on him.

Agreed 100%. He fought tough, classic fights against sure future HOF'ers. I think he was a bit mismanaged, #1... plus, he also had some tough luck in coming up against some rising young legends.
