Re: Cotto vs Chop Chop Corley
Chop hurt Cotto in the past and then Cotto got better. He learned from his mistakes. He became comfortable at Welterweight. He underestimated Margarito and took a bad beating. Hand wrapping aside, the next fight with tough man Clottey, he struggled after he knocked down a determined opponent in the first round and seemed lost even though the judges saw it as a win. He made the fight harder than it was supposed to be but can you blame him. It took courage to come back against such a tough man. If he loses to Manny, it is because he bit off more than he could chew in the luck of the draw that brought him to this title defense. I still think he should have fought a lesser opponent just before Manny. At least mentally all the cobwebs would be gone but they aren't.
Re: Cotto vs Chop Chop Corley
I'm sorry i can't agree with you on the Cotto underestimated Margarito. Cotto boxed better than he did his whole career in that fight. The only problem was that Cotto wasn't use to fighting that pace non stop. At the time of the stoppage i had Cotto winning the fight. Cotto shut Margarito out the first 7 rounds. Margarito was comming back and even though Cotto was winning you could see that he was getting weaker and Margarito was gettin stronger. So i can't make the excuse that Cotto underestimated Margarito. If he did that than he not as smart as you guys claim he is since moving to 147. I can say that Margartito wraps played a part in the fight and that he was the bigger man having fought at 154 before but i will not say that Cotto underestimated Margarito. If Cotto had of won that fight that would be considered one of the best performances of his career.
