Anyone who think Berto is a prospect , doesn't value him as having any claim to being World Champion, in my opinion.
Why should it? Prospects generally are young fighters who have their career ahead of them.
When Mike Tyson knocked out Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time he was a still a prospect, both before and after.
It's an age and potential thing. Khan is a prospect because we don't yet know how far he may go in the sport, he may just end up a beltholder, he may end up in the p4p and a multiple weight champ. He's only 22, of course he's a fucking prospect :D
Berto won a vacant belt I believe, he's young, he's a world champ, we don't yet know how good he is, he's yet to face an elite fighter, he's still a prospect.
You can say the same for Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell.
The transition comes when they a) reach a certain age, and thus their physical prime, and b) fufill their potential or prove themselves against the best in their weight class.
Thus Tim Bradley is no longer a prospect, he's 25 and has defended his belt against legitimate contenders now, he's a champion.
If Berto beats Mosely he will be a champion, right now he's a prospect.
It's really not hard to work out.
so one fight would turn Berto from a prospect in to a legit world class/elite fighter?

Yeah because he would have proven his potential.
It's not difficult missy. Ignore the alphabet belts, we all know who the best fighters are in a division.
A young kid comes up the ranks, he shows potential, he's a prospect. He 'arrives' when he challenges the best guys and beats them. Neither Khan or Berto have done that, but Berto has an opportunity to in his next fight.
He's currently a belt holder, and has shown himself to be in contention at the top of the division. Now he has a chance to realise his potential against Shane Mosely, who I'm not sure, but may be the linear champ (it might be Floyd I don't know) but certainly until Floyd came back Mosely was the man at 147.
Berto beats him he's proven himself to be world class and able to compete and win against the best in the world, he's no longer a prospect he's fufilled.
The online dictionary defines a propect as a candidate likely to succeed.
In boxing winning an alphabet belt doesn't cut it as success, we want real champs right? So when they succeed at that goal, and become a legit champ, a la Tim Bradley, Paul Williams, Chad Dawson, they move from being prospects to champs, Berto hasn't done that yet, but he has the opportunity to against Shane Mosely.

A prospect to what exactly ? if you are a champion you have reach the top , you are not a prospect , but oviously you can improve . You can also be a prospect at a later age if you have never reach the status of champion.

Re: Khan interview about the racism comments he made..
I hardly noticed this thread until now. Khan is an okay boxer with a crap chin and until he can beat someone without controversy then I will continue to regard him as a fraud. He is right to shut up about racism, he has made more money from a racist country than any white man has ever as an amateur boxer from the aforementioned racist country.
Re: Khan interview about the racism comments he made..
NO KHAN!!!! STAY IN ENGLAND!!!! We don't want you over here tearing through our geriatric fighters. Stay there.

Come on Pride, Khan is the man who takes your " 0 ", I think the next world star after Salita to lose his 0 should be the one and only Paul Spadafora 43 wins 0 loses. Warren could show the footage to the naive public of beating up Mayweather in sparring in the build up ;D.

Paul Spadafora was an ok boxer but he got seriously overhyped, because of that one sparring session against Floyd Mayweather Jr. He flat out got the shit knocked out of him by Leonard Dorin and got a draw which was a criminal decision, one of the worst of this decade.

LOL...;D
Look, I have nothing against Khan but nothing for him either. It's not that I don't like him... I just don't care about him. He's a highly touted fighter who got his chin checked and may have been badly exposed by a mediocre fighter at best.
I see him like I see Victor Ortiz or the like... These guys are getting their jalapenos slathered on like they're the next big thing but they have only passed small tests thus far and for the most part are still untested. I am not the type of person that doesn't give someone their due. I just won't give it to an untested goldenboy who had his status handed to him.
I give Khan props for the Salita win and how it was done cuz when my friend walked out and said Salita got sparked in 1 I was shocked. Fair play to him... Nice. Now we're cooking with fire. So know lets see if it's all true. Lets see him step up to the top 15 now.
People bitch that he doesn't get respect... Well his reputation was handed to him so now lets see him earn his respect.
I'm waiting in anticipation. Cuz if he turns into a star, I'll be in line to buy a ticket... But until then lets all keep our pants on and remember what he is...
