Re: Wow surely this is bullshit about McClellan's injury
Well, you're about to read the rarest thing on Saddos. A poster admitting that he was wrong :-\
Buncey was down at my gym on Thursday, so I asked him about it and to be fair he explained it much better than that brief clip.
Basically, he wasn't saying McClellan walked out just fine, but that he was nowhere near ready for release and that he should have been allowed to stay in hospital, as the neurologist, Don King and Frank Warren all recommended. He wouldn't have been fine, but he wouldn't have gone blind, deaf etc as he has. For whatever reason his sister decided against this. Given his actions post-fight, it seems King actually did all he could to try to help McClellan in order to make amends/try not to look like such a shit.
Also, Manny Steward took $300,000 out of McClellan's purse despite not training him in 3 fights.

When McClellan came out of him coma he was blind and doctors said he'd never walk again. When it actually happened* it was a huge news story in Britain, it was touch and go whether he'd survive and it was daily headlines. The whole country knew he was blind and effectively paralysed before he even left the hospital. And he only got paid $$100 000 for the fight. So Bunce is full of it.
*This was right at the end of the Benn/Eubank/Watson etc. ITV era. Benn and Eubank were nationally known people because of the ITV coverage and the fact there were only four channels back then with Sky a tiny operation. The Mc Clellan fight aftermath was huge news for weeks. Because of the result of the fight and the previous injury to Michael Watson ITV pulled the plug on boxing and there was no more national TV coverage. It was a big issue in parliament with the ban boxing brigade out in full force, boxing was a national political football for a few weeks. And McClellan's injuries were a backdrop to the whole thing and heavily reported on, it was even on Radio 1 Newsbeat every hour for days.
