...imagine in that second round that Floyd was fighting Tommy Hearns or Tito Trinidad.....DESTROYED! I stand by it. Sugar Ray Robinson would have massacred Floyd that's just an outright FACT and Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello in their primes would be EXTREMELY difficult for Floyd to beat.
And that being said Floyd has fought faded (still very good but faded admit it) versions of Shane Mosley (taking nothing away from this fight, Floyd amazed me with his speed and ability to survive and then come back and fight) and Oscar De la Hoya and Shane hurt him badly and Oscar did very well and without his normal trainer in his corner and Ricky Hatton & Marquez outside their true weight classes when they had shown nothing great in those higher weight classes.
Yes Floyd is great but just like people criticize Marciano for fighting old guys what about Floyd? Yes Floyd is great, yes he's THE dominant fighter of his era (he may share that with Manny until they fight) and he'll go down in history as one of the greatest but I put an astrisk next to his name because if he was really out to proove he was the best he'd schedule fights like Miguel Cotto does and just fight the toughest guys out there instead of hand picking guys.
Floyd's great but let's just not get ahead of ourselves...Tommy Hearns would whip his ass yes it's a fact
roflmmfao!!!!! Trinidad couldn't stop Anthony Stephens, Oba Carr, Hector Camacho, Larry Barnes or Ray Lavato in only 2 rounds but because Floyd takes a great shot for the first time in 41 fights he'd get stopped by Felix in 2? Who is this idiot:lickish:

Did he stop any of them in 2 rounds stupid?:lickish: No. The most one dimensional superstar of the last few decades who only got a gift against Oscar because he ran out of gas but he's somehow gonna KO the most conditioned and best defensive fighter this side of Whitaker? Go watch women's volleyball or something:lickish:

Felix Trinidad is one dimensional, an old coked out Pernell Whitaker. Had his moments vs Felix Trinidad, so did Hector Camacho early on. And ODLH made him look stupid for 9 rounds, no way would a one dimensional Felix Trinidad ever land that left hook vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He had one moment in the fight, then proceeded to get his ass kicked the rest of the fight. Every great fighter gets caught, that doesn't mean he would get KO'ed, even SRL was floored by a mediocre fighter in Kevin Howard. And i'd doubt he'd ever get stopped in his prime.

Did I say he stopped them in 2 you fucking retard? Yeah Tito was very 1 sided as were a number of fighters but he had enough power to finish anyone off ergo if he caught Floyd like Shane caught Floyd in the 2nd round then I fail to see how Mayweather finishes that round on his feet.
ICB I acknowledge the chances of that happening are very slight however they would have existed. Anytime Trinidad was in the ring he could KO damn near anyone he fought (bar Winky, Oscar, and Hopkins) he didn't always do it but he had more power than Shane Mosley IMO.
Re: Could Floyd end his career as the best ever?
give me a break, Mosley stunned Mayweather, but he wasn't even close to stopping Floyd in that round, and don't forget just how hard Mosley can hit when he puts everything behind a punch, he has always had elite punching power when he has loaded up.
Saying Trinidad would have destroyed Floyd is ridiculous, Trinidad is so much slower than Shane and Floyd he wouldn't have ever landed a punch like that, and Floyd would pick Trinidad apart because he absolutely terrible against boxers with movement and/or timing.
As for Hearns, I would agree he might catch Floyd with a good punch, but there is no proof he would KO Floyd. The big advantage in his power was that nobody saw his right hand coming, and that wouldn't have been the case in that situation. Even Emanuel Steward said Hearns didn't hit hard as much as he landed in the perfect situation.
Besides how many great fighters have been stunned or hurt by far lesser fighters than Mosley? Robinson, Leonard, Ali, etc. But when Ali fought Shavers and Foreman his chin held up.

This is ridiculous. According to this logic how was it possible that Ali knocked out both Sonny Liston and George Foreman when he was almost put to sleep by a domestic level fighter in Henry Cooper?
Hoe did Holyfield stand up to Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson when Bert Cooper rocked him.
And how does your beloved Wlad win any fights against half decent opposition when he WAS destroyed by Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster and Ross Purity?
It's the rantings of a loon. Even Miles in his hate wouldn't reach this far ;D

Waaaaaaa, a Black fighter who talks more shit than anyone and makes 1000 times more money than those two insomnia inducing heavyweight brothers combined, not to mention sells more fights and is way more famous than those bores and you can't stand it:lickish::lickish:;D;D;D;D;D;D;D Waaaaa, Floyd can clearly kick everyone's ass so let me start bringing up hypothetical fighters from the past and say they would destroy him to try to diminish him. Floyd=All Time Great. Clitoris brothers=shit stains on the underpants of boxing history:lickish::lickish:

Depends on who catches you and how they catch you.
Sometimes people get rocked by thudding power, sometimes it takes sharper faster punches to rock other fighters.
(as for Wlad since YOU brought him up) vs Sanders he #1 Took away his own height and reach advantage and #2 Sanders was a power punching southpaw how many of those is a heavyweight ever going to see? vs Brewster and Purrity Wlad gased out, that's different than getting hit flush and KO'd.
Re: Could Floyd end his career as the best ever?
Don't know why people are giving Lyle a hard time for his opinions, it's just that opinions.
I could have called someone an idiot in this thread for thinking that FLoyd manhandles Marvin Hagler in 15 rounds at 160. But I didn't. Or that he could manhandle Duran at 135 and 147 easily.
Re: Could Floyd end his career as the best ever?
I think Floyd is certainly the stand out fighter of his generation. I think the guy is a fantastic fighter .... simply oodles of natural talent, but you can tell that he pits in the sweat in the gym. I had 2 questions about him - what sort of heart he had (and I think that by standing up, just, to Mosely's 2 BIG shots which would have probably ended the fight to most other fighter) and about his true punching power at welterweight (I still don't think he's a banger, but he punches hurtfully and authoritatively enough)
The guy's technique is so crystal, he doesnt fall apart or get ragged under pressure.
I think he is an all time great fighter, without doubt. The question of whether he is actually the best of all time is not answerable in my view. I'd wait for Floyd to die and then let God referee a Super Six type tournament with people like Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Joe Gans, Sam Langford and those guys.
What is clear, though, is that I think Floyd would have been competitive with any welterweight in history.

Why would I care that Floyd is black? Why would I care that he makes big money (seeing how that's good for the sport as a whole)?
You're showing your ass and you won't be here for long if it continues
Re: Could Floyd end his career as the best ever?
Yes, he is GOAT. I also believe he can dominate up to the middleweights. As a PACFAN I'm broken right now:eek:

You must be joking Floyd Mayweather Jr couldn't even make the Jr Middleweight limit.
