And in a short addition, I don't really know why we are comparing Tapia and Hatton. Okay, they both did drugs, they both had their respective careers with their own share of success, but why the back on forth about which was more meaningful? I don't really see the relevance.

I don't really want to debate the comparative careers of Hatton and Tapia. Just something I have never been concerned with.
Ricky Hatton is probably more well known than fighters like. Orlando Canizales, Ricardo Lopez, ETC. And i don't think anyone would think Ricky Hatton is better than those fighters.Quote:

The fact is Johnny Tapia ruled his division alot longer, and made more title defenses. As well as winning 3 world titles in 3 weightclasses.
Not only that, he was a better fighter clearly. He wasn't just a come forward fighter, he was a very good boxer with good defensive abilities, watch his fights vs Paulie Ayala 2 or Nana Kondau to see how good he could box.
Hatton has had a lot more breaks/opportunity, support and potential in his life than the vast majority of people ever have or will.
To say 'His flaw is that he's only human' is a cheap cop out in my opinion... weak excuse.

Hatton made his name beating old fighters no longer in there prime. The list is long. Freddie Pendleton, Vince Phillips, Ben Tackie, Kostya Tszyu, Jose Luis Castillo and Juan Lazcano. Hatton never beat an elite fighter who was in his prime. His best win over a fighter still in his prime is the one over the one-dimensional, crude Juan Urango. Collazo beat him. Malignaggi was an ok win. But Cotto had already bashed him good. And by all rights Paulie should of been coming off a loss to Lovemore N'dou.
