Yeah they'll hate to admit it but it's a fact. Haye was lineal cruiserweight champion.
Haye never beat Cunningham who held the IBF belt so was never the undisputed champion...
I think he would of beaten him, but it never happened.
Cunningham won a vacant IBF title stripped from O'Neil Bell.
Mormeck and Bell fought with the WBC, WBA and IBF titles on the line, which also restarted the lineage which had ended when Holyfield moved to heavyweight.
That makes Haye THE man ;)

Agreed
Re: Real World champions who were British and number 1
Are we adding Jim Watt to the list?? Surely the little fucker has an argument to be included!

question is , was he ever the best in his division ?
argue his case and we can see if he is in or out

Well for a start when he was beaten by Arguello, Alexis became considered the "man" of the division!

Thats a backward way to look at it.

i think froch is the best in the division
and he did lose to kes, but me as well as a lot of boxing experts think he won
But he still lost.
Plus the question wasn't who do you think is best in the division. Compare Froch's achievments to even Hayes at Cruiserweight and you'll see there is no way he can be considered a real world champ.
If he wins the super six (which I'm hoping) then he is in with a shout.
the thread is asking who is officially the best in the division and froch isnt "officially"
i dont want to get into the froch kes debate but i think froch won quite comfortably
if he wins the super six there is no doubt, who ever wins the super six has to be considered the best
Re: Real World champions who were British and number 1
So that kind of sums it all up , for instance Haye v Harrison is for a belt not for a WORLD title .
Boxing has gone down hill , sanctioning bodies taking fees for a belt not fit to hold up you pants !
johhny nelson
colin Mcmillan
paul hodkinson
paul ingle
carl thompson
gavin rees
etc etc
all belt holders but never ever to be called world champions !!

There's currently around 80+ "world" champions. Only 5 or 6 can actually claim to be THE man in their division.
It's been like this for ages and applies to "world" champs everywhere not just Britain.
Re: Real World champions who were British and number 1
carl froch is currently british and world number 1 in many peoples eyes including myself
did sauerland manage to make the froch-abraham fight for kess`s WBC belt that he nicked off the cobra? if so in a few short weeks time we`ll have at least 1 definite answer to this question
