and it seems that fat Dan from ESPN agrees with me
"Fighting for the first time in eight months, and headlining a "Top Rank Live" card in a fight announced barely a week before it took place, Barrera blew past Arias for his second consecutive victory. Barrera is slower now and looks out of place as a junior welterweight, but he can beat guys like Arias, 43, a native of the Dominican Republic from Providence, R.I., all day long"
Rafael Scorecard: Arthur Abraham wins in oddity; Marco Antonio Barrera TKOs Arias - ESPN
Man if you've got to feed your family by fighting you might not be so eager to retire either.

thing is Barrera has had good pay days, so unless he was completely irresponsible with his money which i doubt he was well that would discard that reason, IMO Barrera continues to fight cause he likes the attention, same as Trinidad, can't let it go but i think his family needs him more alive and healthy rather than dead or handicapped

Re: is MAB fighting tomorrow night????
El Terrible, why on earth would Barrera be facing top 140 pound fighters? If Barrera goes for a strap it will be at 135 and that division isn't all that stacked. Marquez is the main man, but Barrera will most likely go for an easier fight than that and Marquez is likely moving up anyway. Barrera looked decent against an average opponent. It was his first fight in a while. He can build on it.

can't say the first knock down wasn't sharp and a flash of the old.
cant' really blame Barrera for not finishing him sooner as arias kep twisting and turning and trying to hold.
Which leads me to my next point of younger fighters learning what not to do under pressure - don't turn away or you will get whacked up the head.
Thing is with great fighters, those moments of brilliance that made them great are still there...it's just the consistency is no longer there.
He stopped the guy in front of him, end of.
