It's funny - I hated my job and couldn't wait to quit and now that I've done so I've convinced myself that it was a huge mistake :p.
It looks like there are a ton of really good volunteer opportunities in Vancouver though, so if I can just find some decent employment while volunteering, making contacts, and building my skills I think I should be okay.

Yeah, we've wanted to get out of the town we're in for a long time and this might be our last decent opportunity, so we decided to take it. The wife has a pretty good job, so she'll be able to pay most of the bills if need be, but my god I hope it doesn't come to that.

i'm sure being jobless must of really sucked for you. But it's better to be jobless before the kid is born than to be jobless when the kid is already here. Either way, I'm sure you'll be alright

Strange how things happen. I had an interview yesterday for a job that I really want and it's about £15k more per year then the other one I have already been offered. They want to fly me over to Germany for a final interview on 9th Aug, but I have to answer the other company that have offered me a job today, as I am due to start with them on Monday. Really dunno what to do. I guess I'll take the job that I have been offered and find a way to still attend the other interview in Germany. If I get offered that job, I'll just tell the firm whom I've accepted with that things are not working out and will leave.

The excuse is legit and nobody would dare to say something about a pregnant woman. I know, it's not super moral but when your future is at stake and that the other potential job i 15K a year better, I think that it's all legitimate, especially with a new little one on the line.

I had a similar situation recently. It went wrong for me as I turned down an interview for a job I really wanted as I had been offered a job already (but hadn't started). Then the job I was offered fell through and I couldn't get a new interview date for the one I really wanted so I ended up with nothing.
