Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
I am going to stay up all night for this boxing which is free. Not often this happens so will make the most of it.

FYI, about 65% of those who voted in the poll so far are picking Hopkins by decision, there doesn't seem to be much faith in Dawson getting the "W".

Dawson reminds me of Jermaine Taylor in some ways. He has a ton of skill - he's fast, he can punch, but he always seems to disappoint. He's so inconsistent that it's hard to pick him to beat a master like B-Hop, even an ancient one.

Agree big time. Its the one point based on most Dawson picks....workrate. But I don't see much of it. Did he find one to follow on a regular basis? I think he's still experimenting with it and even an old crusty but rejuvenated Hopkins is no ones lab rat.
Maybe old fans let go of old fighter stubbornly, but I still see Hopkins breaking him down and pulling away somewhat wide over 12 :-X

Hopkins too hungry and Dawson doesn't have enough heart. Speed, Strength and age might be on his side but I won't bet against old Bernard.

When you think about it, it doesn't say much about Dawson when a 46 year old fighter is favored by most to defeat him. I still think this will be a close fight that could go either way, and it's certainly not inconceivable, that Dawson could win a decision.

I'm picking Dawson to eek out a decision, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hopkins won yet again. He hasn't been convincingly beat since 1993 :o
Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
I can see this going to be a 12 round snoozefest.....both styles will clash and not much will happen but Dawson will land enough to win a disappointing 12 round bore
Job Biscuit (Tell me i'm wrong)!!!
eh eh!!!

I'm wondering how you guys think Tavoris Cloud would fair vs these guys.
I think Dawson wins a very close fight
I think Cloud knocks both of them out.

I think you're right and I'd love to see it happen!
I just checked boxrec and Cloud doesn't even have a fight scheduled. Maybe he's planning on fighting the winner.
Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
Hopkins looked very slender at the weigh in. Its odd that at middleweight he seemed bulked up but two weight divisions higher he looks alot thinner.
Interesting that Hopkins got in Dawsons face at the weigh in but Chad didnt take the bait. I think if he did it would have escalated into a fight and Hopkins would have got what he wanted.
