Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
The myth about Lennox's chin is just that, a myth. The punches that stopped him would have stopped anyone today or yesterday. And another thing, there is no freakin way that Lewis would have been able to take those bombs from Vitali if he had a soft chin.
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Well master Holyfeild was pretty much on the slide as well with health problems and as far as Douglas goes well Tyson was not even in prison yet. Lewis was a great fighter has a better resume and had a longer title run and avenge his loses not to mention went out on a big win at the age of 38 as well.
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Lewis never hit the heights Tyson did, Mike was a global phenomena who transcended the sport because he was that good. Lewis or Holyfield never achieved that level of quality and at Tyson’s best he beats both.
We can speculate about Holyfield’s heart problems and miraculous cure. ;)

I agree that Lewis had something that kept him from being aT THE TOP OF THE WORLD--and it wasnt because he was British. During the Brewster-Wlad fight, Rpy JOnes, Emmanuel Steward, Larry Merchant ALL were like "WOW, Wlad has even a wimpier chin than Lennox Lewis!" I mean there HAS to be something to it. I always thought his chin was suspect amd that was BEFORE the 2 stone cold KOs. Dont gimme this crapola about how he took Vitalis punches so well blah blah---Vitali is a fucking arm puncher especially in that fight against Lewis, all arm punches. Still they rocked Lewis on several occasions.

What a load of
Krap. The amount of convoluted effort you have gone to to discredit Lewis just reveals that again you are on a
Krusade. Now all of a sudden Vitali
Klitschko is shit. Lewis losses actually enhance his reputation, the way he avenged them proves he had a lot more belief and strength of character than many of his contemporaries.
you racist fuck you have stuck the KKK into this now.
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Hi, the ONLY criticism I have of Lennox Lewis ( and keep in mind, he did retire before Really, Really dealing with both Klitschko brothers, is that he fought Down to the level of his opponents, and not up to a champion evey single fight! Hence his two fights (and two losses to Hassim Rahman and Oliver McCall both by knockouts in favor of the opposite fighter!) Now having said that, Lennox Lewis and God knows I love him as a spokesperson for the game, he is one of the best, carries himself as a True gentleman and awesome boxing commentator and one of the best ever to lace up gloves!! Having fought in the amateurs myself, I am a student of the game and feel very much qualified to answer this question you have put to all of us...Lennox is by far the best African-British heavyweight world champion to come along an a awhile and a classy guy on top of that all, which is what boxing needs these days, a CLASSY, Sportsmanlike champion, in and outside of the ring! So there is my two cents, for what it is worth, but thanks for giving guys ( boxing fans) a way of expressing ourselves! Kudos to you My Main Man!!
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Remember the thread asked for criticism so we are providing, he was a quality fighter.

no way. Mike Tyson's 1985-1990 stint was the most electrifying, frightening, mindblowing 6 years of any boxer in ANY time period in ANY weight class. POst-Douglas, well, that's a totally different fish to fry
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Tyson was like a demi-god, I remember in 1985 I started hearing the buzz whilst watching other fights on channel 7 public TV. I saw 1 fight of his in 1985 cant remember against who and he smoked the living piss out of the poor slob in 1 round. I remember seeing this bull-like squat ripped squarish somewhat short stocky heavyweight and he looked mean as shit and aggressive as fuck and you knew he was coming for you like a wild demon to tear your throat out as fast as he could. After he won the title the following year, I remember every time I saw him and heard his name I felt a chilll of fear or adrenaline or both, it was hard to explain, it was sort of terrifying, even tho I wasnt the guy fighting him.
Nothing I can remember was like that about ANY fighter in ANY weight class, that psychological terror I felt and that other boxers felt, when seeing Tyson or even considering stepping into the ring with him. 1985-1990.
What an exciting, new, refreshing, terrifying era in heavyweight boxing. Thanks to Michael Gerald Tyson, the misfit poor boy from Brooklyn. Though I hated him for being so fucking great back then and wished Larry Holmes would humiliate and expose him, I look back now and think Holy Shit!!!!!! What a phenomenon that was.
THANK YOU MIKE.

True it wasnt a 'weak chin' or glass jaw situation with him.
Like they say; the ones you see coming and expect can be sustained.
But to be sparked cold off one hit says something a bit different than being clubbed into submission and finally tk'd or ko'd.
Lewis was usually a very guarded and measuring kind of fighter I think that served him perfectly.
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Lewis had the resume and the best division to be since the 70's it was a strong division. I mean Tyson was a great fighter but besides Holmes his resume is not that great its good but not the top. I mean Lewis came out shape and took opponents lightly but he did go out and avenge them which was what a great does do. Tyson never avenged the lose that should never happened he never actually avenge a loss at all. To me Lewis is up there had a long reign and also avenged all his loses with a better resume as well.
Re: Interested to hear any criticisms of Lennox Lewis here
Tyson tried to get a rematch against Douglas but he lost to Holyfield and retired.

When both Lennox & Mike were with Cus D'mato Lennox handled Mike with apparent ease when kids. Also please do not forget it was Mike & Don King gave Lennox $4mil to step aside & not force Mike into a fight. Lennox never ducked or tried to avoid anyone. Mike had most guys beaten BEFORE they fought he was so intimidating. But Lennox wasn't afraid of him, neither was Evander both beat him
