Yes Joe could hit in the early days. He put Eubank down in the first round and Chris had an unbelievable chin.
I'm not so sure he was that big of a puncher, especially in terms of one punch power. His fight against Tyrone Jackson saw a lot of punches where Jackson was just taking them without answer, and looking back at Joe with a smile.

What i was getting at is that Calzaghe hands were so bad he could not through punches hard at all. I mean if his hands were health he would not be a ko artist but he would have more power then he did which i think would give him better edge not worrying about his hands breaking.

Agreed. I've got a box set with about 35 of Joe's fights in there, and this is the one that stands out for me as the one showing he didn't really have concussive one punch power, but volume worked just as well for him as stoppages, and he punched enough to put people in trouble.
I remember watching him v Evans Ashira when he broke one of his hands early doors, and he still managed to outbox him with a broken hand. I wish he'd have had a shot at RJJ five years earlier though, and if healthy I thought he'd win.

As an amateur Joe had a good punch.
