Re: David Price..be Positive.
It was alarming the first time around against old man Thompson, it wasn't this time. Same would have happened against Teper if he could have lasted 4 or 5 rounds.
I watched the second Thompson fight yesterday and the corner work was the same as what happened against Hammer. Basically begging him to jab, tie up, dont drift back to the ropes, dont get involved. Fell on deaf ears both times. I couldnt figure out who I most felt sorry for, his old mob who it possibly came as a surprise to, or Coldwell who could see it coming and could do nothing about it.
Re: David Price..be Positive.
I may have heard wrong but im not sure Coldwell was saying that
at one point I heard him say don't jab
its very harsh having a pop at Coldwell anyway, who ever was in prices corner would have been fighting a losing battle
Re: David Price..be Positive.
he was saying don't sit on the ropes
Re: David Price..be Positive.
and by the fuckin way
I don't think he should retire, why not carry on, one more try
Re: David Price..be Positive.
Problem is even Price's great sparko chance is sort of gone. Hammer knew if he focused on not getting clumped by anything early he would quickly takeover, so these hard cunts like Chisora and Whyte, who were potential big fights for him, can easily emulate that. His chance of being an AJ victim is long gone.
He could fight on chinning easten european hod carriers but his level is about Dave Allen.

Dave Allen would just stand in front of him and let Price clunk him on his concrete head for a few rounds then he'd push him over when Price is knackered

Yeah you definitely heard wrong ;D He told him to vary the power on the jab but never to stop throwing it.
It wasn't a criticism of Coldwell, I think he was on a hiding to nothing and he kinda knew it. He was basically pleading with him to not fuck it up as early as the first round. Coldwell's words were like supermarket music to Price's ears. He could hear it, but he wasnt really paying attention.
Re: David Price..be Positive.
It's amazing what's happened to Price in the last few years really....
He's gone from the next big thing who pretty much everyone was excited about (seemingly huge power, massive Heavyweight etc) to an absolute joke of a fighter with no spine whatsoever.
Absolutely had all his confidence battered out of him in my opinion and it goes to show that Boxing is as much about your mindset as well as the physical side.
I think he's so worried that if/when he can't get the KO early on and his punches don't do the damage the self doubt just grows and grows and he starts burning off loads of nervous energy, his mind follows and he loses focus and just runs on auto pilot.
He needs to turn it in now and retire and i've been trying to think if i can remember a Heavyweight with such poor stamina?
He's about "Prizefighter" level now and to be honest a 3 rounder would be perfect for him.
Re: David Price..be Positive.
I think what Coldwell said the other day was key. He said that it's not so much Price's Stamina, more the Nervous energy that drains him. I think he's probably right. His nerves and lack of confidence saps the energy out of him . What a Giant like him should be doing when he gets tired is just leaning on his opponent , let his opponent take his weight. Just like Tyson Fury did to Steve Cunningham. eventually it tires the other guy out and you can go again.
Some people think guys as big as Price should be on the outside all the time, but paradoxically he's safer on the inside and then his opponent can't even get any shots off.
if he is going to carry on , he has to fight like that , no matter how fucking ugly it looks or how much shit he gets off the ref and crowd.
But you have to say if he's going to that nervous and can't get past that, is it worth carrying on?
Chisora, Whyte, even David Allen, and most other HW's would've seen that and thought "I'll just let him Gas, throw the odd haymaker to keep him cute, and take him out later on."
Re: David Price..be Positive.
Do Sky still do Prizefighter or have they knocked it on the head now that Matchroom have got a decent stable of fighters?
I used to enjoy prizefighter everynow and again, made a nice change sometimes
Re: David Price..be Positive.
I've actually watched this now. Price is just terrified in there. He knows he's got no chin or stamina and he just unravels from the word go.
Re: David Price..be Positive.
The weight gain didn't help him one bit.
