I think he likes those yes men to feed his fragile ego. Broner is one of these guys who knows it all and isn't going to change. He's as good as he's gonna be, which is pretty good, but not the best in the world.
This. He is just who he is. In terms of position in the annals of boxing history, he will be remembered as a Terry Norris or Iran Barkley kinda guy. A good guy who did a thing or two, but just a good guy around greats. Barkley beat Hearns twice, but so what? Terry Norris was a champion for a long while, but even in terms of Sugar Ray or even Mugabi OR EVEN Julian Jackson, Norris is just Norris- a guy we all fought!
Ok I'm calling blasphemy ;D. Broner couldn't even carry the hairbrush of Norris. He was a refined boxer puncher who beat solid opposition. Broner lacks essential discipline, basic how to conduct yourself and act like you belong in the room discipline on top of non development and he 'learned' his flaws and they became a part of his fight game. He's just not that good. Norris on the other hand had superb skills but his lack of discipline came when over reacting..hitting guys on the deck etc. His chin was checked more than a few times but the man was riding p4p rankings for quite some time.

Ditto on that blasphemy assessment.

Terry Norris was a better fighter than Broner ever will be.
That we know. But when next to Sugar Ray, Hearns, Duran, Mugabi, Jackson and a few others, Norris is just.... Norris. So too will Broner be. If that!

;D... It did have a bit of Blasfamy to it, huh? But here me out before the stoning: "That we know (Norris is way better than Broner). But when next to Sugar Ray, Hearns, Duran, Mugabi, Jackson and a few others, Norris is just.... Norris. So too will Broner be. If that!
In fact, next to Mayweather, Garcia, Thurman, Maidana, and even, GASP, Amir Khan, Broner will be just.... Broner!
Re: Adrien Broner is done as an elite fighter!
My only problem with this thread is the title.
Adrien Broner is done never made it as an elite fighter!

Broner is, by far, very smart. He did himself no damage by placing himself next to Floyd. He made more money than he normally would have made... He clearly got the entertainment side of the fight game right.
I think Broner should go into promotions, fights, music, advertising, marketing... He really has a keen eye for it. He knows that side of the game.

I might be missing something, definitely wouldn't be the first time, but can't really fault Norris for missing guys he wasn't around for at respected weight no? Don't think Mugabi is among them but Norris did destroy him to claim his 1st strap. In fairness and at a stretch with Leonard being past it..Norris did white wash him also. A fight that Norris was actually the underdog for if I remember right and said he hated having to beat Leonard like that. Now Jackson..hey no shame in being removed from your senses by on of the purest punchers to date.
In top form Norris wasn't just there at 154 and falling short ala Broner when talking Mayweather, Garcia, Thurman or Maidana. Norris beat some top fellow champions and he was also blitzing a couple current 147 champions. When they ask Broner what his best win was he'll mumble 'DeMarco, Deleon and maybe Paulie' depending where the judges were sitting.

True that. Norris is getting a raw deal in that comparison. Norris came along at a time when the division and boxing in general was in one of its glory eras. Had he come along at another time, we would be talking about "another" Terry Norris. And like Norris there's been others, who have the misfortune to come up alongside more than a handful of great fighters, thus always being somewhat in the shadows. Broner, on the other hand, always did more talking than his fists and record could sustain. I can't stand fighters like that. Wanting the accolades before doing enough to earn them. To me he'll always be a poster child for wasted talent.

Rumor is a fight with Pac is in the works for Jan.

Wow. So Pac fights Mayweather wannabe and then Mayweather himself
Re: Adrien Broner is done as an elite fighter!
Anyone think they will use Maidana for Broner to get revenge and stay (semi) relevant?
Re: Adrien Broner is done as an elite fighter!
Great bump Alpha, lots of good laughs in here.
