I don't know. That's a reason entirely independent of what the IBF is doing. If you're saying he'll do it because of the money, then you'd have to have thought two days ago that this rematch would happen too. Did you?
I was comparing the purse's of Margarito and Judah. If it was a clean win (walk away with the belt) then there would be no rematch regardless of purse. But under the circumstances if Judah is worth twice that of Margarito then Floyd has a reason to cash in now! How could he justify a rematch if they didn't take his belt?

I was under the impression Zab was only going to collect 250 000 for the 1st fight and even then I don't think that his purse has been released yet?

I guess maybe if it's the biggest money out there right now, but is it? And if you're convinced the PPV buys will be much worse this time, why do you think he's guaranteed the same $5M purse? I'm not trying to be an asshole--I think maybe you're thinking of something I'm not.

Oh no,it's cool.I mean IF they gave him $5 mill and remember, this is Don King involved,he wants to make money anyway possible! Judah will want the match too so ergo offer Floyd as much as he wants or as close as is possible. Nope,Floyd is being offered $6 mill to fight Tony,so let's see what he does.

Ah. I gotcha. I'm still not convinced he'll go that money over legacy, but you may be right.

I thought it was $5M to PBF, $1M to zab. But yeah, his purse definitely hasn't been released yet.
I guess they'll have to do this outside NV, with Roger already suspended and Zab soon to be. ;)

Good deal--have a CC. I really hope he takes the fight with Tony though--it's time to move on to other (if not bigger and better) things.
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
CC back bro and hell yeah, bigger, better, more dangerous, more classy things(Tony). I think he will take the fight but I want to see how he justifies it,I mean Zab has now lost 4 of his last 7?! Remember, his legacy has been sealed in this weight class, you check the records,it will say IBF champ so it won't be as if he is putting the fight over his "legacy",remember,he wants to win multiple weight titles asap and he has 1 weight to go.Maaan,I when he first starrted his career, the class of opponents was astonishing, what happened>? He could have been top20 greats of all time,he has the talent but I wish he cleaned out divisions! He still could, here's hoping.
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
Floyd fought judah instead of Baldomir because Baldomir/ Floyd couldnt draw flies on PPV. The thought of Floyd walking over baldomir is an idea that made arums and the PPV peoples teeth grind because they knew it wouldnt sell as much as someone whos more dangerous to floyd like someone with Judahs Ko power and speed. To further fan the fire on ticket sales, they came up with this Hip hop generation grudge gimmick.
Zabs about 2 fights from obscurity. The only reason he hasnt dissapeared into the darkness completely yet is because the guys as young as fresh and as prominent @147 all have a something against them . Hatton not proven at 147 yet. Margarito having a little bit of trouble with one or two guys. Sharmbas been beat already, Shanes Old, De la hoya hasnt come back down yet and hasnt fought in a year and half. Kostyas too busy dancing on TV and quit on his stool in his last fight. Noone is really believeing Baldomirs the real Deal. Gatti is running out of gas and has run out of ways to reinvent himself as a fight whos just caught his second wind. What Zab showed for about a minute and half against Floyd still puts him on par with most of those guys...
What zab should do is try to steal floyds thunder. Make as many fights as he can against the younger guys like margarito, hatton. He doesnt look quite as dangerous after Floyd beating on him and his name could look good on a record as a former undisputed champ. The public will be willing to use him as a measuring stick, for some speculation on what the other guys chances against floyd are. He still got enough skills to suprise one or two guys and pull off an upset. Played the defeated fighter role, get the buzzards to circle and capitalize when you get them to land. Then he can make more of a case to fight floyd again. Maybe because he reestablished himself, maybe because he will have cleared out some big names and the rest of the competition.. or maybe a little of both.
I think Floyd vacates the belt. His Egos already bigger than the IBF... so they really cant validate or invalidate him or his place in boxing. Hes already carved the notch in his belt when they decided to let the victory stand.

cc, Your point made me realize something very important.
Everybody always says that this is the deepest division.
Just like you said, "guys as young as fresh and as prominent @147 all have a something against them."
Okay ??? Why aren't they fighting each other then!?! It's really bad, if your "supposed" deepest division isn't squaring off to see who's the man at Welterweight. Margarito, the only true natural Welterweight, who's also the most consistent, needing a shot with anybody, to make him "WANTED."
I still say Super Featherweight, where guys like Morales, Pacquiao, Barrera, Carlos Hernandez, Rocky Juarez, Barrios, Humberto Soto Alex Arther, and Edwin Valero can go and destroy each other. And yes, I know Barrera is moving up to 135lbs, but still! These guys are all going to kill each other if they keep fighting themselves! :boxing:

well the thing is since Floyd moved up, like it or not everyone got bumped down a notch. Floyds statsus as pound for pound #1 and "undefeated record" trumps most any credits of any fighters that are in a division he occupies or moves to. Now considering that everyones already dropped a notch and the division is stocked pretty well with talent or at least names. Noone wants to fight anyone else because in their mind can be disasterous.
For example, lets say a guy like margarito gets an offer from king to fight judah. Can margarito track him down and bully him and beat him, further elevating himself above the guys like baldomir whos already got more losses though he's the linear champ. He wins and he takes another step toward the top. BUT.... lets say he loses. His fans will say its one fight... many boxing insiders could say judahs a difficult fighter even after his recent losses. But in the eyes of a lot of people Margarito becomes more ordinary. With so many already ordinary fighters, he becomes just another one of the bunch and his earning potential goes down. Its risk vs reward for most of these fighters. While they all have something against them, they all still have something to lose. So noone wants to take the risk unless its against Floyd. So they can make the most amount of money, regardless of the outcome of the opportunity. Sad, but true... if you thought you only had one shot at something, are you gonna shoot for anything less than the biggest prize? ZAbs probably one of the fighters with the least to lose.
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
Margarito knocks out both these asses. fuck shelling out 50 bucks for these pussies.
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
Zab Judah's coming dangerously close to becoming Don King's new John Ruiz, a guy who keeps getting his @zz kicked and pathetically has his promoter buy his belt back. The guy hasn't won a fight in almost a year yet personifies everything that is corrupt about boxing's rankings.
PS.--It doesn't matter anyway because this fight is not going to come off. Bob Arum has already gone on record insulting the IBF, and says Mayweather has an $8 million offer from Margarito in August.
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
i wouldnt mind a rematch, but i would rather see both fighters move on and fight more suited opponents to their situation.

You think that Judah did enough to merit a rematch?
Don't answer that...never mind...just forget that I even asked the question. ;)
I didn't say that wacko ;) I gave an example of a route I wish was taken instead of an immediate one
Gotcha...my mistake.
Clearly what should happen, IWO atleast, is that if pressed...Floyd should vacate & fight Margarito...when he beats Margarito...& he will...then he get's that belt & everyone has to STFU about Floyd not being this & Floyd not doing that.
Can we all agree on that or will everyone call Floyd a chicken shat for not rematching Judah?
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
Only an idiot would call Floyd a chicken for not rematching Judah. The only reason the fight happened to begin with was because Floyd pushed for it. He had every reason not to fight Zab after he got beat, but gave him a chance anyway. Then he goes in and beats him. And now Judah thinks he deserves a rematch? I have an idea. Maybe we should just let Zab sign a 10 fight contract with Mayweather so that way after each time Mayweather beats him he can already have another rematch set, because it's only fair he should get as many chances until he finally manages to win a fight ::**
Re: IBF orders Judah-Floyd rematch
I dont care tbh what Mayweather does inbetween fighting Hatton or Margarito, I just await the hatton superfight
