Well I said Spinks via decision but I thought it would be UD was wrong, MD is still a victory but I thought it would be UD, Made in Hell is a lot better then I gave him credit for, I didn't see the fight, but it read like Spinks did what I thought he would do for the first 6 rounds but faded late and still won.

Well I thought Shamrock would win until I watched the Ultimate fighter and saw him pushing Ortiz for no reason and that to me showed that Shamrock needed something to psyche himself up while at the same time pissing Ortiz off so I felt it was gonna be a squash match with Tito beating up Shamrock real bad. I also picked Arlovski to beat Silvia.

the most irritating part of the whole fight is that spinks supposedley spent days coreographing his entrance, which consisted of nothing but moving his arms back and forth

No...I mean, even then it takes a while, I mean he had to get the exact timing down..what if he had went left when Joc went right :o It would have been so embarassing he may not have went through with the fight. Well I hope when you watch it you are a bit more level headed than some of these people. To say that Spinks did enough, in the second half of the fight in particular to win a world title is just abusrd. I had at least 115-113 Karmazin, in the beginning after 6 rounds I did have Spinks up legit 4 rounds to 2, but then he won either the 7th or 8th and that was bout it IMO. Throughout the 9-12th and specially the championship rounds, 11 and 12, it was just a disgrace the way he fought. Folks get on ODLH for runnin from Tito? Hahaha. Spinks makes a career outta runnin, specially late in fights. Just listen to what his corner was tellin him, and you'll see what a winner he is. I'm not sayin it was a good performance by Karmazin, but he definately did enough to retain his title. I mean these same folks who condemn Winky for runnin in the 12th against Taylor, when he wasn't, praise and celebrate Spinks for it, or try to sweep it under the carpet. ::**

That score is understandable, even though I had Spinks winning the 6th, and 7th and that was 7 rounds right there. I also think he won the 8th. He was more effective. Karmazin did get off an occasional good sequence but for the majority of the first 8 rounds, Spinks would jab, circle, lunge in and out, land at a high percentage. Then Karmazin would get one good 3 punch sequence off, rinse and repeat. It depends on what you think counts for more. I personally think that ring generalship and effectiveness won Spinks 7 of the first 8 rounds.

I've never once said Spinks won those rounds. But the fact is the first half, or even the first 2/3 of the fight, he got the job done and Karmazin needed a KO to win once it got to the twelfth. Did I like it? No way. Was I impressed? Absolutely not. Am I commending Spinks for running? No. But he did what he had to do to win. Did you see Spinks' legs? He would have made Wladimir Klitschko look like Joe Louis, he was tired as all hell and like it or not, he had to run to win.

Since when do you have to do MORE in the later rounds to take a title? The title doesn't change the rules of the fight. You win 7 rounds and you don't get knocked down, I don't care if you lose the "championship" rounds, you win the fight. He won 7 rounds on the judge's cards, what more do you want from him? It doesn't make a difference if you win 7 rounds on a club fight in the middle of Missouri or if you do it in Madison Square Garden, you win 7 rounds with no knockdowns or no rounds where you take a beating, you win the fight. The IBF title does not change that.

CC. While I still think you are outta your mind for tryin to say Spinks won that fight, I respect that you went to such lengths to respond to my outrage. And you have been pretty civil about it. Main problem in your scoring the way I see it is that you gave the 6th to Spinks, there is just no way he won that round. I don't care how you look at it, Spinks simply did NOT win 7 rounds. For him to take 7 rounds, you gotta be lookin to give him rounds. Also its not out of the question to make that last round 10-8, when you got a guy runnin that bad. I didn't score it 10-8 and didn't need to, but it was bad. I sincerely hope that one day people will realize there is a differnce between what Spinks calls boxing and what boxing really is. Its a crime that he has wins over Mayorga, Judah, and Karmazn now. :-X

CC Hulk. I know how it feels to have one of your least favorite fighters win, only Calzaghe seems to never lose :throwup: I guess it comes down to the 6th and 7th rounds. I gave both to Spinks but that's just because I felt Spinks' constant jabbing and circling was more effective then Karmazin's occasional highspots.

If you win the first 8 or so rounds it doesn't matter if Spinks ran around the ring like a marathon he would have still won the fight it was up to Karmazin to do something about it and stop Spinks and he couldn't. It's also up to the champion to DEFEND their title and if they know they're behind to end the fight and go all out and Spinks wouldn't allow him to 'despite' the running. You can blame the judges the running and etc etc on Spinks, but the fact is Karmazin couldn't do a thing about it to win the fight.

Spinks won the fight...but not very convincingly.

He did well for the first half of the fight other than the times that Karmazin caught him with the three shots that made an impression & rung the bell...but...I honeslty didn't think that Karmazin did a gotdam thang to defend his title or impress me...at all.

Again...Spinks won the fight...but not very convincingly. There was no robbery here as Karmazin did not do shit. Spinks was the busier fighter & the more effective.

Saying that he wasn't would be like saying Mayorga won the Spinks fight. ;)

...or that Tito beat Wright. ;D

Yeah the thing is, most true boxing fans know Mayorga beat Spinks, its not even debatable. There is no comparing it to Titob vs Wright, a fight in which Wright stood in front of Tito, hit him with stiff shots, and didn't run. Only a fool would compare the too, or a Mayorga hater. Point is Spinks barely landed a meaningful or real shot on Karmazin. Most of his punches didnt land clean and were slaps to begin with. Like I say just listen to Spink's corner, even they knew he wasn't winnin the fight. And he finished like a true coward.

I'm a Mayorga fan but Spinks beat him barely and with the knockdown it would have been a draw. Kind of Mayorga's own fault he didn't get a rematch though, because if he had come in to fight Rivera at 147 he would have won and it would have been another fight with Spinks, he came in overweight and his career went downhill from there sadly.

Mayorga lost...just like he generally does when he steps up against legit competition...& that's that.

Don't try to turn this topic into a hatin Mayorga rant. But him beatin Mayorga is BS and you fukin know it. Spinks ain't legit competition. He is not on Oscar and Trinidad's level, and apparently neither is el matador, but he went down in a blaze of glory tryin, something Spinks will never be willing to do. However Mayorga did beat Andrew Lewis, Vernon Forrest, Cory Spinks and Spink's rival Michele Picarillo. Spinks is a bitch, he has fights given to him constantly and cries afterwards. He lost 7 rounds in that fight any way you cut it, at the best, if you were giving him every benefit of every doubt like Al Bernstein, you would have it a draw. But if you were scoring it correctly, like press row managed to do for a change you would have Roman Karmazin winning.
