Left to the body from De Leaon. Nice jab catches De Leon on the way in. De Leon is swinging and missing a fair bit, so if Penalosa can dodge for long enoough you imagine he'd tire. That left from De Leon is such a weapon, but a cricketer would be happy with the curved angles his hooks are coming in on. Big left by De Leon. Straight left and right hook. Nice right by Penalosa as De Leon comes in and he pivots on the one foot of his. Another right from Penalosa. Couple of body shots from Penalosa, and a right hook.
Penalosa finished well, but De Leon was connecting more often early on.

It looked more as though it was off balance for De Leon than big hit by Penalosa. Nice body hook fromDe Leon, and Penalosa comes forward with two missing uppercuts. More body shots from De Leon. Nice right from Penalosa as De Leon came in, wide open as usual. Another overhand right connects for Penalosa. Penallosa starting to pick de Leon off. Wild swings from De Leon, one of three connected. The connection ratio for De Leon must suck. Penalosa finishes well, and I reckon he dodged enough and connected more to take that one.

Round 4:

De Leon jabbing now, before loosing some body shots as Penalosa edges forward. Penalosa taking a lot of punches on the gloves trying to get on the inside. Three nice lefts to the body from De Leon, and a jab and body shots again. Nice right from Penalosa but De Leon is connecting with more on this one, being a little more composed, but only a little. Penalosa with some jabs, but De Leon is applying the pressure with the body shots. This is like trying to play table tennis with a tennis racket, Penalosa is accurate but De Leon is bigger and so are his punches.

Wow didn't realize the card started so early, I may actually be able to stick around to read the RBR for the main event. CC as usuall Wacko, and superheavy as well thnx for covering this fight I really hope Penalosa can pull it off.

Round 5:

De Leon openujng up wqith the harder work throwing more, and taking a lot on the gloves, but a nice body shot from De Leon. Nice right from Penalosa, and a jab overhand left work well. De Leon is still throwing much harder shots to the body. Big right hook shakes De Leon's head. Another straight left from Penalosa. Penalsoa with a huge left which misses by a distance. De Leon backing off and trying to suck him in, or is he really feeling the Panalosa work? Jabs and hooks from Penalosa, and I reckon he got that one too.

Let me just slide my pick in between the round by round descriptions. Barrera by decision. I still think he has enough tricks up his sleeve gas in the tank to pull this out plus he's hungry for another shot at Pacman. Alright its on the record let's see if I'm right. ;D

Round 6:

Another of my "expert" predictions looks well out. De Leon coming out strongly again. Swinging lots of hooks to the body, and some shots piercing the high guard of Penalosa. Good shots from Penalosa, starting to throw the left as well as the jab. Jabs and body shots from De Leon, he's still hitting hard. Good uppercuts from De Leon into the mix now. Penalosa comes out with short shrp jabs and straights. Body shot from De Leon, and a hook finds the Penalosa glovs again. Right hook catches Penalsa coming forward. Two good rights from De Leon, but Penalosa finishes with some strong hooks that get through De Leon's ghost like defence.

58-56 for De Leon for workrate alone.

More jabs and some good hooks land. Penalosa's left eye looks reddened after the last round. Some big body hooks again from De Leon, and Penalosa is taking all these very well. Two jabs and a body shot from De Leon. Good uppercut from De Leon, but as the round comes on two big hooks from Penalosa, and De Leon blinks in disbelief. Is this little guy really hitting him like this and pushing him back? More body shots from De Leon, but a right hook connects from Penalosa. Overhand left and a right hook from Penalosa. Penalosa with a big swing and a bizarre jump in the air and splits as Penalosa misses and throws himself off balance.

De Leon's workrate is good....but Penalosa does enouigh to get a share of that one.

And they closed the betting lines for this fight??? How ridiculous is that looking now then..Not that Im watching it live but it sounds like Penalosa is right in there doing good work... I just thought it was so strange that they would close betting on the fight, has anyone heard of that happening before?... That means before they closed off so the odds must have been massive against Pens... People had a chance to make some serious cash it sounds like.

Round 8:

Nice right hook from Penalosa, but De Leon is throwing some big jabs and hooks, but the jabs are coming from a long way and powerful, so practically as strong as a straight shot. Body shots from De Leon. As he throws a right, Penalosa throws a good right. Nice De Leon uppercut, Penalos with another great right hook, but De Leon's chin looks good enough. Straight left form De Leon, and another right from Penalosa. Good jab and a straight shot that does get through. Penalosa with another right, and he finishes with a good flurry.

De Leon's workrate is really the superior force here.

Round 9:

De Leon is so much quicker than Penalosa in every round out of the blocks, throwing many shots until Penalosa finally finds that first right of each round. Despite De Leon's work, Penalosa is coming forward with a good flurry of body shots, but a good right stops that. Jabs and hooks from De Leon, big left body shots hit Penalosa's ribs. Good uppercut and bodyshot from Penalosa. De Leon connects with two nice right hooks, and Penalosa backs off. Penalosa comes forward with some good hooks and straight jabs, andI think Penalosa's quality was enough to give him that one.

87-85

Round 10:

Good early right from Penalosa this time, but De Leon just keeps on throwing those arcing shots that are almost windmilling as his shoulders go and go. Jabs and hooks again from De Leons, but another right from Penalosa. Quiet round this one, lots of distance shots, and De Leon looks to be settling now. Good body shots and he dodges a Penalosa right. Dodges another Penalosa right. Good jabs from De Leon, and have they done a 'Gatti' on De Leon, in making him a boxer. Good hooks, and Penalosa doesn't know whats happened, he's not getting near him!

De Leon does thsi one well
97-94

Round 11:

Good jab,hook,jab from De Leon, as he is now on the run abit, inviting Penalosa on. Good right from Penalosa. Jab and two hooks from De Leon, he;s cut now it seems. Body shot, and a hook upstairs from De Leon. Jim Watt has pointed out that De Leon's mouth looks busted, and he might be right. De Leon is still working hard, and a good straight left from De Leon keeps him off. Penalosa is getting through with some good rights now, and De Leon is protecting his mouth now. De Leon with some good hooks, but Penalosa pushes that head back with another right.
Penalosa's cut on the side of the head, but De Leon's workrate, even on the back foot is good.

107-103

Penalosa needs a KO...

well impressed with him tonight though.

moving up 2 weights and pushing DL back is no easy feat and his chin has got to be the best around 8)

Round 12:

Jab and hook from De Leon. He's still running, but the corner were massaging that jaw, so it can't be broken, just taken some of those good Penalosa rights. Body hsot from Penalosa, but De Leon still swinging those clubbing hooks to the body. Right and straight left from Penalosa. Body hsots from De Leon, and he's pinnng him back. Penalosa comes forward again with some hooks, but De Leon is on the back foot, and with the jab and straight upstairs from De Leon. Wild right misses for Penalosa. Jab straight left by De Leon is the distance combo he's relying on.

Another De Leon round, and my final score is 117-112 to De Leon.
