I was nervous throughout, been supporting Joe for too long to see it unravel now. Thought he showed his age a little, but it was a very tough fight with an excellent oppnent who has one hell of a future. I was wrong about how it would go, I thought JC would go all out on the inside, but Kessler was a match for him there. He showed how much of a champ he is to adjust and box though and a deserved win.

I don't know how much he has left, he seems to have lost that sparkle that makes him want to trade. Anyway, I'm drunk, emotional, and rambling on.

Honestly...I don't think that Kessler needs to take a break at all. Joe will vacate the belts & Kessler can pick them right back up. Rematch Mundine & then start running shit at 168 again. Take on Bute or Froch or some of the other fellars.

Kessler fought a fantastic fight...but Joe is just a different animal inside the ropes. While Joe battered Kess...he didn't destroy him the way that he did Lacy.

Kessler can & will recover.

You're a classy fan cc. I was nervous, and perhaps a bit pessimistic (as were the setanta commentators), I thought that fight was pretty close, and Kessler sure showed a lot. He has a future certainly, I was actually a little gutted for him talking after the fight, he was very gracious and respectful. He had a game plan, and it worked when Calzaghe got sloppy or over excited, but lost the battle of the jab. Looking forward for his next fight.

I had it 117-113 for Calzaghe. I picked the UD. Joe is just too fast. Don't want to see him fight Hopkins. Not a Hopkins fan at all. Great boxer but doesn't excite me as a fan. I'd love to see Calzaghe fight Taylor. When the fight was talked about, I'd hoped it would come about. I think Taylor would be a much better Super Middle than he was a Middle.

yeah, and interestingly, it seemed like all Joe really did was kick up his speed and put on the pressure ... didn't really figure Kessler out as much as he made it impossible for Kessler to figure him out. It's not like he demonstrated that he clearly had Kessler's number in particular ... he just remembered his own, and trusted it, and poured it on. Did what he does, in spades. And it worked.
