Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
I've seen Emily Rose before....that is more interesting to me than scary but that's probably because I majored in Psychology and it pits science against the supernatural...it's a great movie. Not as scary as The Exorcist though....but what is.
30 Days of Night is ok....it wasn't great but it was ok...a little different for a vampire movie....very original idea though.
I haven't seen the others you have listed but I reccomend Emily Rose out of those and then 30 Days of Night.
The horror movies that I have seen that are scary and on my must see list:
Psycho
The Exorcist
The Shining
The Omen
Halloween
Friday The 13th (the original one)
Jaws (it's a horror movie to me!)
Seven
Alien
There are plenty of others I find "disturbing" but to me that's not the same as scary....like Saw and Hostel, those are disturbing and not scary.

Agreed on Seven. The scene where they find that guy in a room tied to the bed spooked the hell out of me. :-X

Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
There are alot of good ones mentioned on here but the one that scrared me when when I was in my early teens was Salem's Lot.Look at this creepy scene where the vampire boy is floating outside the window.

Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
The original OMen...Something about that kid...Especially the part where the Nanny hangs herself after calling out
"Damien, Damien it's all for you Damien" then jumps off the balcony...The kid looks at her with the evil little smile of satisfaction

Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
given that I am one major double hard bastard films do not scare me, even as a kid I giggled, and assumed Bernie Clifton would be cameoing in films like Halloween and Friday the 13th
however one that I thought was a bit creepy a few months ago was on sky and called Dead Silence Dead Silence (2007)
And it was all about ventriliquist dummies which I have always found a bit unnecessary if you know what I mean ;)
check it out

Don't worry too much about it the movie just takes demonic possesion and shows that those same symptoms can be a defined disorder in the DSM (diagnostic statistical manual....it's what the shrinks use to diagnose any mental problems). In which case the movie is very interesting but if you ever wonder about crazy people then it may get to you. That girl who played Emily Rose did a great job.
oh Rosemary's Baby is a good scary film for you.

Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
when i was a kid, thriller was out and in the video at the start where he turnes into a werewolf use to scare the crap out of me

ME too ,but we went to the drive-in off our face and then drove down to Flinders slept in the car and went surfing at first light.Out there my mate was pointing over my shoulder and his mouth was flapping and no words comming out.I turned around and three fins were in the classic half circle around the back of us.Turned out to be dolphins messin with us ,he went straight in, in a blind panic but we all eventually got out after being unnerved.Looked like a warning from them actually as they mimiked Sharks in the straight line cutting through the water with the fins out and doing the round you all up thing so you never know.
I flew the day after watching airport and one motor in the plane actually failed over singapour and we had to land in emergency mode we could see every emergency vehicle lined up with lights flashing waiting for us to land. my dad turned around and passed me a cigarette I was in my teens and smoked at home with him after that.
Scarest movie; Deliverance . I sure as hell wasnt going camping or rafting the day after seeing that, they say things come in threes, well not to this little black duck!

Re: What Scary film really scared you shitless?
i did it;D
i finally watched the exorcism of emily rose & I really enjoyed it, had everything u need in a movie. I love courtroom films as well. it would of been scarier if I hadnt watched it in the day & with the fkin washing machine gowing crazy in the kitchen but was only time i had chance to watch it
watched 'the mist' & it was fkin crap i hated it just stupid cgi effects which generally in a horror type movie never works.
didnt like 30 days of night either, best just puttin the lost boys on again instead.

Yes. I tried to watch it about 4 times, and kept falling asleep. I think Stephen King, although popular...gets to be boring on film after a while. It seems as though regardless of what story he is telling, it is almost the same group of misfits in it and same sub plots.

Stephen King's best stuff put to film: The Shining, Salem's Lot, Children of The Corn, and Creepshow (as a kid the short Something to Tide You Over scared me good).

Was that the recent movie that had the kid from transformers in it where your cell phones could hear everything you say? I think I saw that a few weeks ago and thought the same thing as you.
