OK yeah, I can see the empire pretty much doubled in size after his death, but I think we can agree that Genghis Khan was the brains that united the Mongols and got the ball rolling.

I didn't know this at all, so I have to admit that I did cheat and look this one up.
"In 1961, the prize was awarded to the second Secretary General of the UN, Dag Hammarskjöld, for strengthening the organization. Hammarskjöld is the only person to have received the prize posthumously, a few months after his death in a plane crash in the Congo; the Nobel statutes were later changed to make a posthumous prize virtually impossible."
Boo hiss! I wanted to see if anyone knew.
Anyways, Hammarskjold was probably the most effective leader of an organization that is supposed to be dedicated to world peace, and this is an award that is dedicated to peace, so in a way it is ironic that so few people would be able to answer this.
Why should Britain be thankfull to Panama.
Being an Island yes. ;D
No its geographical
simply it makes Britain 10% warmer 12,000 years ago it wasnt there and the Gulf stream use to go into the Pacific. with Panama rising it redirected it North to warm us up, I thank them my father thanks them my Mother thanks them, my Dog thanked Them because He was short Haired.
By the same token, I suppose it is all Panama's fault that it is always raining in the UK :)
OK, new question...
Dec 1937 - Feb 1938 saw, in what city, an estimated 200,000 - 300,000 civilians massacred by soldiers from this country.
Im just stabbing at this. USSR
Incorrect. USSR is not involved
Amritza Spelling English
Im wrong ,
So I just cheated and looked it up! I'm horrified at that! but no surprise!
Fukers wernt bought to account either!
Who ;d
Scrap, Amritza is not the incident I am looking for. I am aware of a massacre at Amritzah (India I believe) by Britsh soldiers, but I believe that was a one day affair that involved at most a few hundred casualties, am I correct?
Anyways, the event I am looking for is the city of Nanjing China, where the civilians were slaughtered by Japanese soldiers prior to the outbreak or WWII. The event is known as "The Rape of Nanjing (Nanking)" There is some extensive and unpleasant video dicumentary available on Youtube. Be forewarned, it is not pretty.
I only found out about this a couple years ago, it is not as well known as you might expect
Didnt know that, but remember Japan always Bullying China, in fact because of that Ill never buy another Mitzubushi ;D
That's my man. Always looking out for the little guy. ;D
Thank God they eventually tried to do just that! without the American forces we couldn't have all won the war for England ;D.
Kidding, The English were the backbone to all resistance, we all should have helped them alot earlier and banished the Gerrys and the Japs as one massive combined effort right at the start of each section.
Indeed. It was a stiff resistance they put up. We shall never surrender!!
Nice intresting thread but hence I find myself at the end without a question so I thought I'd post one myself. What's the dryest place in the world?
lol thanks, yep thats the answer didn't think somebody would get it right away since you think dry you think desert usually. Hmmm ok then first civilization to use iron weapons
Yeah, Antarctica being the driest place is not something I would have guessed or deduced. Probably just a piece of info I picked up from another trivia game. It's counterintuitive for sure, a place consisting of so much ice and snow being the driest place on Earth.
Anyways, I'll have to pass on the Iron Weapons question, I don't know.
I would think somewhere like India.
Not to far off but nope.
CGM, wheres that
I would say the Greeks were the first to use iron weapons.
Okay, got it,.
Ok while we're waiting for the answer of the other question, here's another one.
How old was Mary Stuart when she became queen of Scotland?
18
