These guys have short careers, none of them would fight for free, I don't care whether its for a title or not. They have to make their money, criticizing a guy for not taking a title shot for free is bizarre.

It's unlikely the Setanta business played any part in the fight being cancelled. Once the fight contract is drawn up the TV companies put their payments into an escrow account which holds the money till the fight takes place, then it gets released to the promotion. If the fight doesn't take place the TV companies get their money back. This contract may be different but I don't think so, Setanta would have paid up long before now.

I am not hating on David Haye, I'm not hating on his fans...but really had Wlad pulled out there would be much more shit talking "Oooh he's scared" blah blah blah. Wladimir had class enough to accept Haye's pull out of the fight for what it is an "injury" it really doesn't matter about the reality of Haye's injury but the result can be great for boxing.

Tell me which you would rather see

#1 A Heavyweight Champion fights a guy who moves up from cruiserweight without much heavyweight experience.

OR

#2 A Heavyweight Champion fights a guy who has moved up in weight but has proven himself vs very capable heavyweights and has earned a title shot.

....option #2 is best for Wlad, Haye, the sport of boxing, and the fans of boxing, it's win all around. Sure Haye could slip up but if he's all that and a bag of chips like his fans profess that he is, if he's the true "savior" of the heavyweight division then he'll surely pass whatever tests any of the aforementioned sorry heavyweights could throw at him...so why not build the fight up? Why not have a REAL rivalry instead of this one that Haye has manufactured? Why not let Haye become a REAL threat before Wlad cashes him out of the game??? Well it's rather simple, neither Haye nor his fans think that Haye is a well rounded boxer, they don't think he's perfect, they don't think he's unbeatable, and they don't think he has anything more than a puncher's chance...infact the Haye fans KNOW he's vulnerable, they KNOW he's got flaws in his game, and they KNOW he's in real danger vs Wladimir Klitschko....but they are stuck on that puncher's chance, just as they were with Henry Cooper vs Ali or Frank Bruno vs Tyson.

Haye needs to be a real contender and not just pretend to be one on TV...he needs to earn a shot like Holyfield did before him. Holyfield fought a couple of bums and then a couple of dangerous fighters before he got to Tyson and look at how good he turned out to be.

As I posted in another thread... I vote Valuev. Let Klitschko fight the 7-foot circus freak and expose him for the poor excuse of a prize fighter he is. Because he is actually injured. The fight contract calls for an independent doctor to verify any injuries that cause the fight to be delayed or cancelled and that's what's going to happen. It's clear that Junior is botling out of the fight here, not haye. We'll have to continue this Monday morning. :)

Wlad did Haye a favor by giving him a title shot. There was a date and location already set. All Haye had to do was get there. He couldn't. Not Wlad's fault. Why should he cater to Haye any more?

I think it's better off that Wlad fights Chagaev (who is unbeaten and WBA Champ in recess whatever the fuck that means)....anyway Chagaev is a SOMEBODY in the division David Haye is a nobody!!!

Sure people say he should be able to jump up to heavyweight and fit right in but we don't know that for sure do we? Ricky Hatton had trouble fighting 7 pounds over his normal fighting weight....7 pounds!!!! And Haye's opponents??? Outside of Mormeck I really don't see anyone that really catches my eye, I know it's the normal thing to say when talking down a fighter "Look at his record who has he fought?" but honestly let's disect Haye's record, his "biggest wins" are vs Mormeck, Maccarinelli, and Monte Barrett that's a very poor list, even for a guy with just 23 fights under his belt. I've heard interviews with Haye comparing Wladimir to Alexander Gurov...WITH A STRAIGHT FACE!!!! It is amazing Haye even got the shot, if not for his big mouth and wins in a PISS POOR division along with the support of Setnanta and Steve Bunce he would be another nobody!!!

Now I WANT David Haye to be someone in the division, I want him to win big fights and have his success but he's never, ever, ever, ever, ever going to beat Wladimir. On Chagaev: I read his Hepatitis B gets worse when he trains and is more contagious. The Finish authorities showed there integrity in not allowing him to fight. I used to like Chagaev but this illness/ disease has weakened him and he is not the force he once was. He struggled badly with the unknown Drummond.

Wlad wasn't ready for Lennox back in the day and never would have been - he would have got sparked by Lennox.

HBO don't want the Chagaev fight they want Haye. Haye is the draw in the US not Wlad.;D

Rob, inspite of what Steve Bunce may say, David Haye doesn't carry weight here in the US people don't know who he is, or they don't care, and the ones that do know who Haye is want to see him get massacred in the ring.
