Has anyone else noticed how BIG this fight is in Britain?
Sky have hyped the shit out of it. The papers, news and radio stations have plugged the shit out of it too.
Seems even more so than Hatton-Floyd.
;D.. at the final press conference, don king's representive said there is huge interest in america about this fight.
i think if haye ko's him it'll be big news everywhere. i'm sure tv staions all over the world will want the pictures of a giant hitting the deck.
^No doubt that is true.
Aside from Klitschko/Arreolla getting some press out here(not a lot either mind you), it's been a long time since any heavyweight fight has been mentioned by more than a passing interest. As for Americans getting excited about it, not sure why they would get excited you have a Russian fighting a Brit with the winner likely to fight someone from the Ukraine. It's really true that most Americans won't care about a fight unless an American is fighting.
No excuses tommorow night fenster please
If haye goes down it`ll be because he lost to a better fighter!!
hatton, I'll still do a sig bet with you if you have Valuev. I am rooting for Haye in this one, but I don't think he has the goods.
I think it's on some off-brand cable network as PPV, haven't seen it advertised though. We have Dawson/Johnson II with Yorgey/Angulo on the undercard non-PPV on HBO.
Yeah it's on 1 PM channel 501, when I get home for lunch I'll see how much it is probably $49.99 if that's the case a streamin I will go.
Nah, it's $24.95, I'm certain of that.
Anyway, I'm really rooting for Haye as he's a South Londoner & a Fitzroy Lodge alumni. I think he can win this, but I saw an interview with Adam Booth the other night where he said 'Valuev is a lot better than people think'. This I do agree with. I know he gets a lot of shit, but he's surprisingly adept at cutting down the ring & his jab is not as slow as people make out.
On the other hand, Haye has great athleticism & should have enough to beat him, but his tendency to lose concentration in fights can cost him dear. The discipline remains the one key question mark hanging over him for me, more so than the chin. However, if he can KO him that says a lot. I don't care what people say in size & weight differentials, it's similar to Nonito Donaire KOing Giacobbe Fragomeni at their natural weights. That deserves some credit should he do it.
Anyway I'm going to go with my heart & say Haye by KO in round 7,8 or 9.
You picked him to win a heavyweight title in his third heavyweight fight.
And onlu in your world did the US civil war start because of something other than slavery. Like I said, you'll never beat me in an argument, future arguments between us will just be a continuation of the one-way ass-kicking you've had over the past couple of years.
I have noticed the same Fenster there advertising this everywhere even when you are watching another sport on sky if scrolls across the bottom of the page, really hyping this and the hype this is getting is way ahead of Khan v Prescott.
The newspapers have been reporting on this fight everyday since monday, I thought tghis fight will do shit numbers I think i am going to be wrong.
Me too. I mentioned the other week how I haven't seen boxing in the papers everyday since Lewis beat Holyfield and Tyson, but now it's in there all week and when Haye wins I see it being back page all next week.
And I am that confident, as long as Haye doesn't make the silly mistakes he made against Thompson by trying to blast him out in the 1st round and takes his time just peppering Valuev and moving I see him starting to land huge shots around the 4th or 5th and stopping him around 7-9th rounds.
This could be an good fight, if your blind!! Nikolay Valuev is one of the worst if not the worst fighter who has an "ABC" belt!! Who has he fought and actually won , Oh yea No One!!! He Lost to Evander Holyfield but because they were in Germany and that horrible Italian Judge Pierluigi Poppi if he is one of the judges during this fight watch out for a great decision!! Seriously I don't know how anyone can say this is even an average fighter he is terrible, man friggen Manny Pacquiao could beat him!! I can't stand Haye mouth but he should KO the Yeti through the ring!! If Holyfield can get in there and land a Left hook like its nothing the Haye will land twice as many cuz he is like half of Evander's age!! The Biggest punch that Haye will land and can land is the Left Hook its always open against Valuev!! Take a look how slow Yeti's jabs are and right hands are its like watching slug trying to move!! Just terrible!!!
Haha, I'm shit at the actual prediction contest, but I seem to be pretty damn good at picking if a PPV will do well (told everyone the Mayweather one would be big). C'mon BoxingGorilla, add that in, I need a way to get my horrible prediction scores up ;D
As it is, this is the most hype I've seen for any fight among the press since Hatton-Mayweather. Hopefully he wins & there's big numbers behind it, it might just encourage the other channels that this boxing thing has got some legs left.
Haye should be too good, but I'm not overly confident
What time does this start? I'm in NZ so I figure its early tomorrow morning for me...
Re watched Holyfield v Valuev and Chag v Valuev last night and think Haye has the tools to do the job, if he does not loose the plot going for an early KO. Haye needs to pick Valuev apart, keep the big man moving and chasing the whole fight, take his legs away, make him work the whole round every round, if he can do that I can see the big man having a very hard night.
Chagaev and Valuev can both take a shot and they can also defend, Haye is crap at both of those.
Haye could deffinitly beat alot of heavies but his chin and stamina will always be a liability, hes going to be too small here, Valuev will maul him.
Also, I reckon Valuev has power, hes never really fought aggressive, against Holyfield (who didnt win because he did nothing but skip away!) he was very passive and he seems to pull his punches alot but I think he might just walk through Haye early!! Haye has annoyed him and he has trained harder than normal because his weights down, hopefully Haye winds him up some more today;D
Valuev weighs more for this than he did Holyfield by about 7lbs. Also what do you mean Holyfield didn't win because he did nothing but skip away?? Holyfield didn't win because he was robbed FACT!! Valuev is shit and Haye will prove it tonight. Not saying Haye is an all time great, but no one in the division right now is. If Haye does lose i'll hold my hand up and say I was wrong but I wonder how many who have gone for the freak will hold their hand up when Haye wins!
I have everything crossed for a Valuev sickening KO victory over Haye.
I'm in Bristol for a bonfire party tonight, but I'm taking my laptop with me to watch the fight as they arn't getting it, (curse my non boxing friends)
If Haye gets stopped I will spend all night on facebook spamming Leftylee and laughing at him.
In fact I will beg Saddo to unban him just so we can laugh at him on here too.
Come on Nikolay!!!!!
Haye is very chinny....he was stopped by Carl Thompson, put on his backside by Jean Mormeck( but came back to win) and put on the canvas by Monte Barrett. I'm still of the opinion that Haye is a big cruiser and not a fully fledged heavy just yet. He hasn't given himself time to grow into the division. Valuev on the other hand hasn't ever been dented and has good basic skills. He's no sugar ray leonard but can Jab,throw the right hand and has a decent uppercut. Also, even if Haye can get in and out, you have to believe that the 7ft, 22 stone Valuev will hit Haye cleanly at least a few times.......how does david react to that? Also once david gets in range, can he avoid the clinch? If not, does he tire from valuev leaning on his shoulders? I think that after 6 rds, David Haye could be in trouble. Valuev late for me.....around the 11th round.
Dont forget

Leaning towards Haye, but whether he can deal with the size issue and his stamina problem will be key to this fight IMO. Valuev can't punch shit for me so I dont really think thats going to be a problem, even with Haye's shaky chin.
Hope he KO's the beast though ! What a sight that would be, anyway cant wait for this one. C'mon the Hayemaker !!!!
Don't worry. Haye has the speed to out box Valuev. :)
Haye might have the speed but he doesnt have the skill to keep away from shots.
Hayes best 2 wins have come against Mormeck who was knocked out a couple of fights before and Macaranelli who was also knocked out before Haye fought him and has been since Twice!!
Adameck would have been a good fight for Haye, even Adameck has fought and beaten better opposition at heavy than Haye has.
I agree Valuev isnt greatly skilled or very powerfull but Haye is fooling himself if he thinks he can deal with the size and strength of the man.
Yeah....but he'd be a fucking hypocrit to do that, he's promised action in all his fights and in this fight HAYE is the one that has to provide the action, we all know what Nico brings to the table.
I wonder how Haye will handle simply being in a boring fight, win or lose.
I'm intrigued with the outcome...the fight itself, we'll see.
There's so much bad stuff that can happen to Haye if he loses, it's very entertaining to think about. If Haye gets KO'd, what does he say? What does a guy who's heavyweight career is made up of beating 2 bums and talking a ton of trash say when he gets KO'd??? "I was just trying to hype the fight"?, "No one figured I would even take the fight much less win on account of my size"?...I think it might even be worse if Haye loses a boring decision because he has talked nonstop about how he's flashy and how he's going to stir up the heavyweight division...what does he say if that happens???
Either way it's put up or shut up time for Mr. Haye and I'd at least like to see him struggle a bit, maybe hit the deck a time or two.
I'm going with the wookie.Think Haye may hurt himself trying to hard to impress, trying to knock him out and reaching all over the place to get in.Valuev is a swap meet champion but can stick Haye in the face at distance and make it ugly for a very inactive and massively out sized Haye.I honestly would not read much at all into Hayes size contrast to Holyfield and what he was able to do.Even todays ancient Holyfield is a more well rounded and savvy seasoned boxer.Thought Man Mammoth was a bit nervous, hesitant in with him to say the least.Haye is going to have to hit him and hurt him very early to get respect and make him reactive. If Haye gets the KO clean,he should get the accolades also. Will be a statement.
Holyfield didn't win likely because the WBA didn't want to be responsible for a decent heavy weight hurting holyfield in his first defence... One of the Klits would seriously hurt him... :-\
During the first half of the fight I found it hard to give Valuev more than one round in the bag and one even... he was garbage, Holyfield was connecting much more, through out the first half of the fight Valuev was barely connecting at all... some rounds literally not at all.
Valuev stunk the place up that night, he couldn't do anything particularly effective against an shop worn ex-cruiserweight who is the best part of 50.
If he boxes smart he wins easy, if he's stupid and dives in then he's in for a hard night.
Don't let your obvious love of haye cloud your judgement though... ;D
Very well put Spicoli...to me Haye should box, he should aim for a decision and if a door opens where he can rip Valuev with big shots he can go ahead and do it, but to think he's just going to have an easy time with this fight and that he can continue to bully heavyweights the way he bullied the cruiserweights is ridiculous.
He might do well to absolutly forget the head early,Wookie not exactly tight and solid in the wasteline, and there is ton of it.Just alot of wasted energy and might run into a stupid punch getting in.Wonder if Haye will be stamped with the blown up cruiser label ala Holyfield?Well lets see how his first live hvy goes.
I honestly reckon that Haye should be the first to beat Valuev on home turf. (The reason I say this, is that if Holyfield lost to Valuev, then certainly Chagaev lost to Valuev...but the German scoring argument is another debate entirely.
If Haye plays it smart, and boxes his way through, then he's a dead cert, as no-one can give Valuev a round when he struggles to land any punches (hopefully), but if Haye goes for the KO, as he probably will do, throwing big shots at a chin the size of most people's heads, then it's a result that really depends on the matter behind Valuev's chin. If it's granite, he wins, anything softer, and Haye will finish him.
Valuev just sucks. I'm ready to see him go away. The Ruiz fights, the LOSS to Holyfield...
someone just put the horse to pasture already...
Eubank wishing Haye good luck...
Always love the eloquate talk from him. ;D
anyone doing a RBR or have I gone blind?
